I have been going through Catholic church records from Ollmuth and Britten from about 1800-1880. From the baptismal records it appears that there was a naming convention-- children were named after their baptismal sponsor. I know that my family continued the practice for one generation after emigrating to the states. Can anyone tell me if naming children after their godparent is still the practice in the Trier region?
