Hello to everyone, Can anyone suggest anything? Can't go any farther because my ancestor changed his name from Kaltenbrach (or some spelling ) to Scheiperpeter. The family story is that he changed his name to that of the family living in the house he moved to. My theory is he apprenticed or something like that. He made horse collars. Bernhard Scheiperpeter b 1830 or 1840. Place of origin - Westphalia m 1862 in St. Louis. Cannot find him in any records except the Catholic Church where he was married and his children were baptized. Have tried Census, Passenger Lists and the FHC IGI. I know Westphalia is north of Trier but I'm trying anything even close. Thanks for any help.
