    2. Response to Mary Fanta: Dear Mary, just like the other responder, the only name I recognize is Ernster. Ernsters were early settlers of one of the largest Lux. settlements in the USA in an area that includes what is today, Ozaukee county, WI. (Settlement here was greatest from 1845-1857; it was known as Washington County prior to 1853; the major sites were: Port Washington, Fredonia, Holy Cross, Belgium, Lake Church--many of these sites on the shores of Lake Michigan. We are listed in the new editions of Jean Ensch's and Jean Claude Muller's remake of Nicholas Gonner's Lux. book--in fact, our Schanen family store/pub is on page 136 of vol. 2.) However, I do not recognize any of your other names. The Town of Belgium Ernsters had farm lands in Lake Church, WI, just east up the road from my immmigrating Schanen (Schann/Schanne), Grun (Greng/Gree), and Binat (Binna/Bina/Binatt/Binett/Brenard/Binard) families in this settlement. Did you have any Ernsters from here at any time? Best wishes, Melissa--the daughter of Dorothy V. Schanen Link Simpson who co-founded the Lux. Soc. of WI in 1977. - ----------------------------------------------- o: TRIER-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <0c9242815011469CPIMSSMTPU08@email.msn.com> Subject: [TRIER-ROOTS-L] FONK, AUDREY HI. My Ernster, Luxemburg relatives include ADOLPH FONK and ANNA MARGARET AUDREY. Adolph was born in 1833, Margaret in 1845. The Fonks and their nine children came to Wabasha, MN, USA in the late 1800's. Here, their daughter Catherine Fonk married into another Luxemburg family: the JACOBS from Beaufort, Luxemburg. (Ancestors in this line include KAUFFMAN, PLEIM, HAMMER, REMIPON, BUTTEL) all from Beaufort.) I'm looking for information on any of the listed families. My search for the Fonks and Audreys is just starting, and I'd especially welcome anything on them. Do any of these families fit into your lines? Thanks in advance! Mary Franta 12bedbug@msn.com
