Also, the last time I talked to one he would NOT copy the page, I had to photograph it. He was afraid of the copier's light ruining the paper. However, you can probably look at copies of the same church books he would use at your local LDS (Mormon) Family Histor Center. The LDS library in Salt Lake City has microfilms of the church books and civil records from all over the world, including most villages in Germany. You rent copies the film for a 6 week period for about $3.25. To find the closest FHC look at (new) http://www.familysearch.org/Browse/browse_places2.asp or (old) http://www.deseretbook.com/famhis/. There is an LDS research URL coming on line. It is still in test, but there are some data available for public use. The first records they appear to have made available are their Ancesrty© File and their IGI© File. The LDS resource to help you find what data are available for your villages is the Family History Library Catalog is not online yet. The URL is http://www.familysearch.org or http://www.familysearch.com. Both go to the same place. Fred H. Held mailto:fhheld@freewwweb.com
