Hi! I was wondering if there is anyone who could help me, I'm trying to find information on ZweiBrucken, Germany. My 6th great grandfather Heinrich Bartholomew I was born on 9-28-1728 in ZweiBrucken, Germany. Some other Bartholomew's have ZweiBrucken, Saarland Bezerk - not sure on spelling, so can anyone help me here, on getting info on this area of Germany. I'm trying to find his parents and siblings, he came to America in 1751. I had written to Germany (4 or more times) but haven't gotten any reply back. Joyce - [email protected]
Zweibrucken used to be part of Bavaria's Pfalz, hence the name Bezerk (should be bezirk amt or B.A. ), an administrative government locality. Zweibrucken, Germany and ZweiBrucken, Saarland BA are one and same. Saarland itself did not come into existence until 1957 as a State. Never was a province or whatever. Just a region called the Saar over which several wars were waged for (the Saar is rich in coal and iron) And Zweibrucken is a city, not a village or small town. FHC has records for Zweibrucken churches (Ev.-Reformierte, Ev., & Katholische), on microfilms. David Joyce VanKirk wrote: > > Hi!
