    3. I had some people come from Karlsruhe, in Baden - which is about 50 miles south and a little east of Trier. They came in 1853 - so a bit earlier than the time you're looking. They departed from Le Havre and arrived in New York. I was never able to find any shipping manifests for passengers departing LeHavre and was told by several people "in the know" that there are no surviving lists.
