I read the thread on "synodale" with interest since I have several ancestors [most likely Catholics] from the 1600 and 1700s in the northern Saarland who carried that appellation. When I asked about the meaning on this list several years ago, there were several suggestions as to meaning, but no one then, as now, was able to define it authoritatively. I hope there's someone somewhere someday who can give us the historic meaning of 'synodale'. Mike Fox San Antonio, Texas
