Does anyone on the list have Jungs in the family? Can anyone point me to sources that would help me find this man in Trier? Thank you, Maureen

    2. In a message dated 9/24/2006 2:28:24 P.M. Central Daylight Time, margegh@charter.net writes: In case you have not checked the nearest Family History Center (LDS), they may be able to order microfilm of church records. Also, have you tried "Google"?-- I'm a regular at our FHC. Problem is: 1. I have no village identified for the birthplace - only the Kreis. 2. All the Kreis Daun records that are microfilmed are Catholic and I think the family was protestant. 3. Even then, there is a large number of parishes - too many to just randomly order films. 4. Most of the various immigration books - Burgert, Hacker - have not been microfilmed. I have checked the online indices for the Familybooks from the area. Again - nearly all seem to be Catholic. Even just checking for a similar sounding surname I just haven't had any luck. I'd hoped I'd come across a similar sounding surname - and then at least have a smaller geographical area identified. I do thank you for your response. Maybe we can get some brain storming started. Jennifer

    1. [TRIER-ROOTS] BAIDEMANN from Kr. Daun - 1764
    2. Peter Simon BAIDEMANN arrived in Philadelphia on the Ship Boston on 9 Nov 1764. His brother Johann Heinrich BAYDEMANN arrived on the Ship Hamilton on 6 Oct 1767. In a newspaper advert dated 15 Jun 1773, Peter, who settled in the Mohawk Valley of NY states he is searching for his brother who was last known in the Lancaster, PA area. He also states they were from Kr. Daun. The surname appears in later years as Bidelman or Bidleman - never Beidelman. There are numerous other spellings of the surname in the late 1700s- both with and without the "L" . Among the spellings are Beuttelman, Bydamen. These brothers are not at all related to the Beidelman/Bidleman family who settled in Pennsylvania. That group is from Assenheim and Hochdorf. (I've already exhausted those resources). I'm assuming the brothers were protestant as the family attended protestant churches in the Mohawk Valley. I've searched the online German phone book with any number of spellings, familysearch.org, etc. My questions: 1. Has anyone seen this name or something similar in their German research? 2. Given the various spellings, does anyone have suggestions for German spellings of the name. 3. Any suggestions for where to search next? I appreciate any and all input, suggestions, etc. Jennifer Clark

    3. Good morning, Patrick. : Looking for information on connections to gggg Nicolaus- Trierweiler, ggg : Johann- Trierweiler, gg Philip - Bekond I think I understand what you're looking for. Nicolaus, Johann, and Philip with surname of Fisch. Nicolaus and Johann from the town of Trierweiler. Philip from the town of Bekond. As I have an ancestral line with the Trierweiler, naturally I got all excited. It's good that you have place names along with names in your inquiry, but dates are equally important, especially that the lengths of each generation can vary widely (one of my greatgrandparents was born in 1826, another in 1870 - you can imagine what the differences could be with another three generations). Welcome to this list, and I hope you find a lot of info about your family.
