I went to the archives ( you get there by googleing Trier -Roots-L) and it lists the archives as such. I got to the list by using the alphabet method. So the archives are the actual emails put on the list by us. then go to the years. Patty discussed that the books were accessed by writing or mailing Herr Scholer and we know by the message in June that he gave the books to Herr Lichter. So have to go to the months after. I looked through about 3 months and can't find directions. so help!!!!! I need to know how to acess Herr Lichter. I think probably you just ask him by email for the information you want for whatever village. Am I right? marge

John, There is another mail list for Saarland http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/DEU/DEU-SAARLAND.html I'm confused by the statement "Neunkirchen and areas along the border with Austria". ShtetlSeeker shows there are 19 villages with the name Neunkirchen in Germany. The old countries that border Austria were the the Kingdom of Würtemberg and the Kingdom of Bavaria. Saarland is quite a distance from Austria. The records for much of this area of old Germany start about 1650-1700, with a few to 1550. You search for records is very near the beginning of those available. I just found a email from this list back in June of 2000, from Wener Johannes Lichter, giving a list of Family books he wrote from old parrish-regesters which are so difficult to r ead. Now the complete dates are easy sorted by families from a to z. So my towns are on there. Does anyone know how to look at those books? Are they avilable through the Family History Librarys? Is Werner still on this list, maybe he would add this list again. Or if the moderator wants, I can scan in the pages, there are only two, and submit them to the List. Thank all of you so much. Especially Joanne Mello who probably has found pieces to my family puzzle. A public thank you Joanne. marge

Hello Marge, there are several Thiergarten in the area. Thiergarten - Malborn, that would be parish Malborn from 1815 onwards. The next one is Thiergarten - Hermeskeil, that would be the parish Hermeskeil. Another Thiergarten is part of Trier itself, parish Trier St. Matthias. Family History library has a familybook for Hermeskeil, written by Reiner Schmitt. regards, Ursula (Buchholz) I am combing through old records. Does anyone know if Thiergarten had their own church and where would the records be? Thank you, marge -------------------------------
