Hello, Brenda, My Turbes immigrant was Hubert Turbes -in 1857 he and his wife Anna Grosjean and their children came to New Ulm, Minnesota from Manderfeld, Prussia,Germany. That area became part of Belgium in 1919. He was born in 1818 in Herresbach, a few miles from Manderfeld ,to Martin Hubert Turbes and Maria Susanna Klinkers. I am trying to find out if Hubert had siblings and if they stayed in that area or emigrated to the USA. Martin Hubert's father was Wilhelmus Turbes whose wife was Elizabeth Hammes whose father was Martinus Hammes. That is as far back as I go. My mother was Magdalen Turbes born in 1897 in Wanda, Minnesota to Christian Turbes, son of Hubert, and Anna Ross daughter of Hubert Ross and Anna Marie Christen, also from Manderfeld. My mother married Frank Schneider from Springfield, Mn.and moved to St. Paul where I grew up. If you are a Turbes we should be related. I have never heard the name outside of my family.I have numerous cousins especially in Minnesota. Looking forward to hearing from you. Joan Schneider Born
I'm searching Toennes, Toennessen, and Windeck from the village of Odekoven, parish of Lessenich, in Rheinland. Heinrich Toennessen, b. 1716, married Anna Marie Windeck in July 1797. With her sons, Michael and John, Anna immigrated to Milwaukee in 1846. Would also like information on the towns of Odekoven and Lessenich. Thanks. Jeanne in Wisconsin

I am also researching Arens and Meinz. Do these names sound familiar to you or anyone else. Hello Diane and all: Here is the data I have had forwarded to me. I am interested in the descendants of the person-Mathias Clares(akaKlaers?) who was the son of a Michael Clares and Susanna Kraml. He was married to a Catherine Doffing on Mar. 3, 1819. They had the folowing children: 1, Johann born May 16, 1820; Thomas born Aug. 20, 1821; and Mathias Dec. 27,1812. They lived in a small village in the Kreis Bitburg area by the name of Gransdorf. There were two other families that lived in the same village that were ther briefly before they went to other places- Schaack and Doffing. I do not know the origin of the particular Clares family. I do know that they was a Christopher Clares that was born in Neurath that also emigrated to the US and was married at New Trier, Minnesota, but I do not know his kniship to this family. I was hoping a descendant could be found. Thank you all for your responses. I thought Klaers was a rare name. What is the orgin of the Klaers family that settled in Minnesota in ca. 1855?? Bob Olson
I am searching for information on Nicholas Reiter born abt May 10, 1827 in the Kreis Bitburg region to Nick Reiter and Mary Ross. He was married to Christina Ross who was born about 1835 in Trier (?) no parents names known. They came to U.S. prior to 1855. Anthony Ross, Henry Ross, and Peter Held may have come to the U.S. about the same time as they were working on the Reiter farm in 1860 - may be relatives. Any help would be appreciated. Hello Diane, It was fun seeing that someone else is researching the area of Prussia,Germany that became part of Belgium in 1919. Most of my mother's ancestors came from the Manderfeld area- near Buellingen.. Some family names are Turbes, Ross, Grosjean, Murges, Christen, Knott. Are any of these familiar? I realize Reuland is further south . Everyone I have found on the net researching that area is connected somehow or other. My immigrants settled in Southern Minnesota. I am from St Paul but have lived in California for 50 years. Yes, I am an older researcher of 73 years! Looking forward to hearing from you. Joan Schneider Born My letter to you, Diane, came back as invalid address so I pasted it here to just TRIER roots.
