    1. [TRIER-ROOTS-L] Some of my brick wall--people I just cant find
    2. Am looking for the birth places and parents, sibs, pedigrees of the following people: Elizabeth Welter born 1830-1845 in Luxembourg...came to US Joliet Ill and then on to Iowa. Her husband, Christian Mueller(later known as Miller) born in Luxembourg about the same time. Then to New York, Wisconsin, Joliet Illinois, and then on to Iowa. He had a brother Matthias believed to be older. Need birthplace, parents, etc. as above. Nicholas Lies, born March 25, 1828 in Luxembourg. Need location of family, parents, sibs etc. Susanna Hanton(Hanten) born June 1, 1840 in Luxembourg. Need parents, location, etc. Her siblings were Nicholas, John, another Nicholas, Mary, Katharine, and Susan, all believed to have been born in Luxembourg. All these people were speakers of a German "Platdeutsch", so I am guessing they lived toward the eastern part of Luxembourg, almost at the German border. Any information that you can give me about these families would be helpful..it is also possible that they might be in German records of the Trier/Bitberg area since the borders were changing so often during that time. Thanks in advance...Sansu

He is a usher of the court (sergent) and placed an official note (the document I have) on the main entrance of the church in Wallendorf on the sundays June 27th, July 4th and July 11th 1683. There is no further information about him in the text. Wallendorf is a small village just a few miles southwest of Bitburg. Greetings Richard Berlin, Germany richard@waxweiler.de

    3. Karen, Thanks for the response to my query. WILHELM'S are from both Eppelborn & Gennweiler. I know of none near Trier but you never know. Have had great luck in locating them using LDS microfilm records. Vince gave me some excellent feedback on Spaniol's but unfortunately was unable to send it because of a computer glitch. Good luck. Do you have any other information on this family? I have their children' names and year of birth. What I would like to have is date of marriage for Heinrich and Anna, birth month and day for all of the family and any background you can find on the parents and other siblings of Heinrich and Anna. I hope I am not asking for the impossible. I will take any information that you have on this Junkersfeld/Oberbusch family. I do "Thank You" so much for helping me. Peggy Wurtz Atteberry

Frank; A number of Spaniols married into my Ardner family and I found the St. Stephan Catholic Church parish records in Illingen. I ordered the microfilmed parish records for the church through the Mormons and a local Family History Library. I did not research the people you had your query so I have nothing to pass on to you but some advice. Te people you seek are probably in the parish records of St. Stephan or in the parish records of St. Josef Catholic Church in nearby Uchtelfangen. There are hundreds of Spaniol entries in those records; births, baptisms, deaths, confirmations, marriages, and witnesses at baptisms and marriages. I presume that you know that the Spaniols originated in Luxembourg and came to Germany during the Thirty Years War. If not, I have (in German) a short narrative of the historical wanderings of that family as published by a team of German genealogists. I will gladly scan it and send you a copy. I also have some pretty good color photos that I took of St. Stephan and St. Josef churches last fall. St. Stephan dates back to the 13th century, and St. Joseph is huge and almost looks like a cathederal. Both are very interesting. I will be glad to scan and send copies if they are of interest. I send the same offer to any other reader of this list. Vincent Falter

    1. [TRIER-ROOTS-L] Mueller from Birresborn
    2. Nancy Zuber/Del Smith
    3. Hi Joan in Texas: Someone is actually researching in Birresborn?! My ancestors from Birresborn were Jona Christian BELEN/BOELEN and Katharina ROMACH/RHOMACH both probably born in the 1730s. Their daughter was Maria Barbara BELEN born in 1767. She married a BENDER from nearby Deudesfeld (15 minutes southeast) in 1791. Then I have Anna Elisabeth MULLER/MUELLER, born I don't know where (Birresborn??) in the mid-to-late 1740s. She married a JUNGELS from Meerfeld (2 minutes s.e. of Deudesfeld). They had a son born in 1769, whose daughter Catherina JUNGELS married Mathias BENDER in Meerfeld. Tell me more abaout your MUELLER from Birresborn. Whose from Mullenborn? I visited Birresborn exactly two years ago this month. Beautiful little place with rolling hills. Nancy from Minnesota

    2. Karen Pritchett
    3. My great-great-grandmother was born June 28, 1850 in Strohn, Germany (possibly Strohm?, but listed as Strohn on funeral card). Her first name was definitely Maria, but her last name has been passed down in different branches of the family with many different spellings. To date, I have seen Schlatweiler, Schatweiler, Tschatwyler, Tschatweiler. Can anyone tell me which of these spellings (or which alternate spelling) might be the actual original family name? All hints greatly appreciated, Karen P.
