Peter & Mike, Thanks for the effort that you have put into obtaining the books that I asked about. I will get on the website that you have suggested Peter. If I can't get them through interlibrary loan then I suppose that i will have to buy them. I had tried to get one of the books through my local library and had high hopes of success when it showed up in their computer but received a phone call a few days later and was told that the price to borrow them would be exorbitant. I do appreciate your trying. Frank Kuhn ing. =20 Frank Kuhn

Wolfgang, Thanks for the information on the Saar website. I have gotten some good information from them in the past and I will try them again. Perhaps I am mistaken but I thought all or most of the little towns had these books. Frank Frank

Hi! I have just joined this group in hopes of finding any and all information on the HIBER family. At the present time I have learned of a John Hiber who was born February 15, 1879, in Hamm, Luxembourg. He died April 21, 1928, in Barron County, Wisconsin, USA. I would be very interested in find any other family members who still may be residing in Luxembourg and past histories on this family. I look forwarding to hearing from you. Sincerely, Mary
Phil, I went to the website that you suggested but only found one that I was looking for--UCHTELFANGEN. I will continue to look for the others. Thanks for the input. Frank Kuhn n
It was nice to see themessage about the Wisconsin Lux. settlements. I haven't seen too much listed for Luxembourgers in that area. My gggrandparents Jacob and Marguerite (Senninger) Bernardy and family emigrated in 1847 and settled in the Lake Church area near Belgium, WI. Also the Nicholas and Margaretha (Jager) Kitzinger (also gggrandparents) came from Castell and emigrated to Lake Church area in 1857. Nicholas' brother Frantz Kitzinger also emigrated to the same area in 1861. The Kitzinger families later moved to Black Creek, WI while the Bernardy family moved to the Peshtigo, WI area. I have fairly complete information about these families down to the current time if anyone is interested. The one thing I am missing is the exact date and the ship that the Bernardy's landed. Someone provided me a list of the ships that are probable ones but I haven't had time to search yet. Does anyone have a listing of the passengers that arrived in NY from Antwerp in 1847? No one had them before but I thought I would ask again. Thanks everyone. Maybe I'll get to see Kroev someday. Now, I've narrow my search down to Catholic parishes there! Hopefully, Catharina's husband's family (SCHUTZ) came from nearby. Lauri
Hello, yes Coev was the old writing for the town of Kroev at the river Mosel and abouth 30 miles east of Trier. Today it is a lovely toutist town with a big stuff of god wine there. Rittersdorf is just a few minutes northwest of Bitburg; it doesn't appear to be linked to it. To see a map, go to your home page and type in http://www.expediamaps.com. Click on Enter and wait. Next click on "Place Finder" and wait. Next type in the city you want and click on "go" just to the right of where you typed the name. Wait. The next screen will show several places on the left and you pick out the one you want. You want Rittersdorf, Rhineland. Chances are the map you want showing the town will already be there for you. Sometimes you can get an enlargement of the map by clicking on the "print" under the map. Once in a while expediamaps goes down. If you don't get anything, try later. A search at http://www.expediamaps.com/ shows your town to be located about 2 1/2 miles NW of Bitburg. We have records stating our great -grandmother came from this area. Has anyone heard of this? Lauri and Mary
Response to Mary Fanta: Dear Mary, just like the other responder, the only name I recognize is Ernster. Ernsters were early settlers of one of the largest Lux. settlements in the USA in an area that includes what is today, Ozaukee county, WI. (Settlement here was greatest from 1845-1857; it was known as Washington County prior to 1853; the major sites were: Port Washington, Fredonia, Holy Cross, Belgium, Lake Church--many of these sites on the shores of Lake Michigan. Hi, After several years of searching, I finally found a record that has a village of origin to one of my families. Problem is that it was a poorly written entry in a wedding record. The entry appears to be Roster in Prussia. The first letter (R) may be a B or H, it is hard to say. The "ost" is fairly clear, but the "er" might also be "on" or "ov". Anybody got any ideas or guesses? Thanks in advance. -- Dave Weber WMW Reprographics Ltd. 809 Homer St., Vancouver, B.C. V6B 2W2 (604) 685-5408 -- Searching: WEBER, BRAUN, PUDIL, SEIDL, GIBIS, KOHN
Mike, Very kind of you to make that offer. The following are a list of books that I would like to borrow from a lending library if possible. That failing, I will find it necessary to buy them. Die Einwohner der Gemeinde Marpingen von 1680-1900 by HERMANN BOHLINGER Pub. 1997 Die Einwohner der Pfarrei Eppelborn von 1708-1832 by GERHARD STORB Pub. 1995 Katholisches Heirats-register by HANS-PETER BUNGERT Pub. 1986 Selbstverlag Landsweiler-Reden: die Familien 1681-1914 by NICHOLAS STENGER UND RUDOLF BUDENZ Saarbrucken 1977. Familienbuch zum Kirchenbuch zu der Pfarrei St. Albanus, Thalexweiller by Gerhard Storb Lebach 1982 The only one of these that I have seen personally is the one about Eppelborn. I have not seen the others but if they contain anything close to the amount of information that I found in the Eppelborn book then they will be well worth the effort in obtaining them. Frank J. ERNSTER is a familiar name in an old German neighborhood in St. Paul. Any connection? Nancy Mary Franta wrote: > > HI. My Ernster, Luxemburg relatives include ADOLPH FONK and ANNA MARGARET > AUDREY.
