Hi folks, I'm new at this, so my first question is, where do I find more information about Luxembourg? I'm looking for the family of Katherine Wilwerding, born Dec 8, 1881 in Luxembourg. This information was given to me by her g-granddaughter, who lives in Minnesota. Any information about Miss Katherine or other information pertaining to Luxembourg will be graciously accepted!! Best regards Ron bigswede@compsurf.com
Hello, Could anybody refer me please to a list where I can find Familienbuecher of the EIFEL area? Thanks, Marianne
Hi, I am new to this list, just having found info stating my gggrandfather PIERRE BAKEIS and his brother, JOSEPH BAKEIS were born in Vance, Province of Luxembourg. This info was NOT from offical source, so I would like to follow upon this. I am completely new at searching Luxembourg, nor do I understand the history of the area. My line came to USA about 1850 (-/+). Any suggestions has to (1) short history book on Luxembourg (2) genealogical resources, would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance, Eleanor
Hi, I just subscribed to this list. I am so excited to of found a new clue on my great-grandparents. I found my g-grandmother's death certificate which lists her maiden name as KLUCK. ANNA KLUCK b: November 30, 1850, Germany Her father is PAUL KLUCK, b: in Germany. An old family story says that either Anna or her husband Johann BONJA's father was a General in the French military (my gg-grandfather) this may or may not be exactly accurate I found a General Alexander von KLUCK. Born 1846 in Munster, Westfalen. Where is this place and how would I best search to find out if his father was Paul KLUCK? He could be my g-grandmother, Anna KLUCK's brother as she was born in 1850. My grandfather (Anna's son was also named Alexander). Thank you in advance for any help. I am just so excited to of found a clue, I've been stuck for quite some time for a location in Germany that they imigrated from.. Johann BONJA - Anna's Husband b: June 1849, Germany; I do not know his father's first name or exactly where in Germany he was from, I thought the Alsace-Lorraine but that is another family story. Would it be possible that a German speaking, German born man could be a General in the French Military? RE: BONJA/BONEA, KLUCK, JELENCURVIA - Germany/USA STROEBEL/STROBEL, KARPANDI, KARWANDI, KETTERER - Banat-Hungary BUCHERT - Romania-Hungary??? KACZYNSKI - Poland Judy HarGem2@aol.com

Hi, I found in a churchbook an ancestor coming from Wetzlar before 1790. He was Evangelian Lutherian. I don't know if he was born in Wetzlar, he must have live there for a while, so maybe he married there. Unfortunaltely I did not find an Lutherian church in Wetzlar. Can anbody give me names of Ev. Lutherian parishes in the neigbourhood of Wetzlar? Because of the old handwriting: Is there a Wezlar or Wexlar besides Wetzlar? All information about Wetzlar and surroundings between 1700 - 1800 is welcome! Thanks in advance. Bernarda.

I originally asked for RIESDORF, but had two responses asking if it was REISDORF. I looked through all my information and found all family notes were Riesdorf, but Cathrine Biever's death certificate says Reisdorf! So, I am asking about it now! I understand Catherine, Cathrine, Kathrine, Kathrina to be very common names as both mother and daughter had the same name. Thank you for such quick responses and help- I appreciate it! Folks: I have a mailgroup of just under 100, that is devoted to the study of genealogy, history, culture, religion, genetics, etc. of the original 13 families that came to Germantown, PA, under the direction of Franz Daniel Pastorius. Some of our members are heads of prominent Philadelphia organizations, such as historical societies and german organizations. Others have visited the Crefeld or Krefeldt to trace their roots. Still others have actually inherited huge lists of 35 and 45+ thousand names from former descendants of the original 13. We want to round out our group. We are currently building a fine webpage at http://meltingpot.fortunecity.com/cavendish/693/ We wish to invite you, and any you may be in touch with in the native lands themselves, to join our group, by sending a blank email to: Original13-subscribe@listbot.com To unsubscribe, simply send another blank email to: Original13-unsubscribe@listbot.com or contact me, personally. Thanks, and I hope to meet you soon! Vince Summers p.s. We have an archive of about 600 or so data messages at http://www.listbot.com/ available to subscribers.
I am researching Catherine (or Kathrina) RIESDORF, B-19MAR1868 in Luxembourg. Emigrated to United States in 1885 with childless relatives. I believe parents to be Peter (or John) and Katherine. I was told the RIESDORF family owned several vineyards. When her father died, she wrote and told her siblings to divide her share amongst themselves as she was not returning to Luxembourg. I believe it maybe in the Greiveldange area, but I'm very unsure about that. I have a photograph of Peter and Katherine RIESDORF, taken by "Ch. Bernhoeft, photographe de la Cour Grand Ducale". Mr RIESDORF was 98 years old in the photo. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Julie Imgrund imgrund@earthlink.net @earthlink.net=20
Received message from retired Judge Don Binkowski today At least class action suit is being serious considered again Yahoo. Will give you details of who to contact privately when requested. Particular those who have sites at GeoCities W. David Samuelsen
http://www.wired.com/news/news/politics/story/20518.html In response to a boycott and criticism from outraged customers, Yahoo late Wednesday changed rules that had given it eternal ownership of all Geocities Web sites. "We're seeing how we can clarify our intentions, given the recent outcry," said Tim Brady, Yahoo vice president of production. The new terms of service, which took effect 3 p.m. PST Wednesday after executives spent the morning huddling with lawyers, now stress that "Yahoo does not own content you submit." blah, blah - long article. Protest and outrage from Geocites was so great in short time. But there are still problems with the Term of Service (ToS). http://www.sitepowerup.com/boycottyahoo/boycottyahoo.htm Large number of sites had been pulled and relocated elsewhere on different servers. Keep pressure up! W. David Samuelsen W. David Samuelsen
Hi, Just came back from an exciting day at the Wisconsin State Historical Society. I found out my G-G grandmother was Katherine Thomas, born 21 June 1825, in Trier. Her parents were Anton and Anna Maria Schuster. On 21 April 1850, she married John (Johann) Thomas, although he had emigrated to the US in 1837, so he must have gone back to find a wife??? (my guess) They had a daughter Susanna in 1851 in Germany (so John was there for a year or two??), and emigrated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1852. By 1861, they were in Kenosha, Wisconsin. (I checked Germans to America, but couldn't find them.) First, is anyone out there related? (needle in the haystack genealogy approach) Second, any suggestions what I should do next? Thanks, Pat

You mean to tell us that anyone who has their genealogical data on Yahoo/Geocities will not own their family history anymore? Which reminds me...in the past few days, most hits I get on names from Family Tree Maker site searches (which includes all of the Internet) gives me "forbidden to enter" messages.....is this because of something like this? Or is it beause people are posting their data and don't realize the site they have chosen (such as one Family.com type of place I found) automatically blocks others from looking at the very data they've posted in an effort to make connections?
