I also have a connection to that place, 200 years ago Waxweilers were living there . The church books of Ehlenz (Kirchenbuch Ehlenz) are kept in the central archive. The adress is: Bistumsarchiv Trier Jesuitenstr. 13 b 54290 Trier Germany There are 4 books for baptisms: 1671-1740 1739-1798 1802-1862 1862-1899 4 x Marriages: 1676- 1741-1750 1758-1798 1804-1897 6 x Deads: 1739-1748 1758-1798 1805-1869 1870-1916 1870-1899 1900-1916 Good luck! 1. [TRIER-ROOTS-L] Clasen
    2. Two Clasens appear in my Koch line, but I have no idea where they were from. Maria Clasen married Nikolaus Koch 24 Jan 1782, and Barbara Clasen married Sebastian Koch 11 Aug 1785. Nikolaus and Sebastian were brothers of my ancestor Johannes Koch. Our Kochs came to Chicago several generations later, however. (from Noswendel-Rodt, Germany) Pat

    3. Mr. Lichter, I am looking for any information on my Grandmother's family. She was the daughter of Peter NICOLAY, tinsmith, who according to family history emmigrated from the Trier, Germany area. Peter NICOLAY, also according to family lore, was a soldier in the Prussian Army, prior to his emmigration. My grandmother was born circa 1890, in Duluth, Minnesota. Based on her birth date, her father, Peter NICOLAY (or NICOLAI) probably emmigrated between 1880-1890. Peter NICOLAY (NICOLAI) married Anna SCHNEIDER (or SNYDER) also from the Trier area in approximately 1888, possibly in Minneapolis, MN, or in Trier. I would sincerely appreciate your checking the books you are so familiar with for the NICOLAY/NICOLAI and SCHNEIDER/SNYDER names. Respectfully, Tom Hughes -----Original Message----- From: Werner Johannes Lichter <Lichter-WJ@t-online.de> To: TRIER-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com <TRIER-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Thursday, July 15, 1999 11:28 AM Subject: Re: [TRIER-ROOTS-L] Rautenstrauch >Hello Mrs. Byman, >in the books of Josef Mergen a emmigration expert 1947-1962 I have found >the following RAUTENSTRAUCH emmigrants from Trier: > >Rautenstrauch, Karl Theodor , born in Trier November 9,1839, > wanted to emmigrate to Buenos Aires >in Argentinia; permission from 1864 > >Rautenstrauch, Valentin , born 1832 in (Trier ?) age 22 > wanted to emmigrate from Trier >to South-Amerika permission from >1854 >bouth sons of Johann Wilhelm Rautenstrauch from Trier. In the emmigration book "the america emmigration from the county of Daun in the district of Trier in the 19th century" written by Josef Mergen in 1958 I have found the "permission to emmigrate from Prussia" from this family. The book is written in german, but translated the entry means: No.705 The shop-keeper Heinrich BERNARDY, born January 29,1831 and his wife Katharina Klinkhammer, born April 04,1832with the following children Bernardy, Elisabeth, born September,18,1861 Bernardy, Wilhelm, born June, 06,1862 Bernardy, Peter, born February, 10,1866 Bernardy, Anna Maria, born December, 30,1867 Bernardy, Johann, born September,04,1869 Bernardy, Katharina, born June, 06,1872 emmigrated with permission of March 25,1881 in this year to USA. The family lived in WIESBAUM county of Daun in the Eifel vulcanic lowlands. Thias is about 35 miles northeast of Trier. The original permission documents can be found today in the central country archive of northern Rheinland-Pfalz in the city of Koblenz. sincerely Werner LICHTER living in the Eifel lowlands near Trier in Germany ------------####################------------------------------ Phyllis schrieb: > > I am trying to locate information on my great grandparents, their name was HEINRICH BERNARDY and CATHERINE BERNARDY ( maiden name was KLINKHAMMER). 1. [TRIER-ROOTS-L] HAENDGEN, HENDGEN, SCHNORPFIEL, DUNCHEM
    2. Hello, I have recently visited this region of Germany and I believe I have found my surname's origin. I am researching the names posted in the subject. I found those names in Lasserg (Lasserk), Munstermaifeld and Wierschem. Any knowledge of the those names would be an inspiration to me in my research. Especially the name Dunchem. Barbara Dunchem married to Joseph Haendgen and had a son Joseph Haendgen in 1819, who was, we believe, my g-g-g-grandfather. Thank you, Kim Handgen Sandstrom
