    2. Werner Johannes Lichter
    3. Hello list readers, I have found 3 very good web pages in german language with top maps of the regions Eifel, Mosel valley and city of Trier: Trier-web is in " http://www.trier-web.de " It has millions of links, like the Trier-people say allways. Mosel-web is in " http://www.mosel-reisefuehrer.de " It has top maps showing the complete Mosel valley or detailed parts of it, also a lot of cities and towns. Eifel-web is in " http://www.eifelfuehrer.de " It has top maps showing every little town, has informations about 400 towns and cities of the Eifel (but it isd not complete). Sometimes there are pictures of the towns included, also there is a list of the listed towns a-->z. See the links to douzands of towns and cities, too. But,ugh, I am so sorry: there is no info about my hometown Gilzem there. sincerely your all volunteer Werner LICHTER

    3. Looking for my grandfather's parents. My ggrandfather's name is Theodore Schwartz. We think he was born in 1838 in Germany. Our ggrandmother's name is unknown. It is possible Theodore had a second wife. Theodore had one son--Fredrick Theodore Schwartz-- and four or five daughters (names unknown). Fredrick is my grandfather. He was born in Rodershausen, Germany in 1871. Fred lived in Tier before emigrating to the United States in August, 1893. He landed at the port of New York. We know that a year later he filed a 'Declaration of Intent' in Stevens Point, Portage County, Wisconsin. I do have the wonderful opportunity to be in Germany this fall to do some research but I don't know where to begin. Where are the birth, death, and land records kept for this time period for the area of Rodershausen and Trier? I am new at this and need all the help I can get. Thank you. Carol creditr@wans.net

    2. einwiller
    3. Hallo to all the TRIER-listsearcher, I am new to the list and it is my first attempt to find someone who ever ran across the surname EINWILLER. I am born in Csatalja in the Batschka area in Hungary. My for-father Mathias Einwiller (born 1731) has immigrated to Hungary around 1750 but I could not find out from which area in Germany. It could have been Alsace because the name sounds like coming from this part of the German speaking territories. But in Alsace the name did not exist.Maybe the name has been changed from another spelling like EINWEILER etc. Any help to find the surname Einwiller or similar versions of the name would be highly appreciated. 1. [TRIER-ROOTS-L] LUX>Ozaukee County, Wisconsin
    2. Book: LUX>OZAUKEE COUNTY, WI To all researchers who had ancestors from Luxembourg who settled initially in Ozaukee County, WI: I am writing/compiling what has turned into a very large book that now has over 7,000 ancestors/descendants in it. The book will also contain written and pictorial essays and information--one large essay with dozens of pictures will be of the old Lakeshore Stone Quarry (Lake Church, Town of Belgium) its pier, ships, etc.. If you want your families included, please contact me. All credit for family trees goes to the researchers/contributors, pictures/copies of documents welcome. You can submit in Family Tree Maker form or gedcom form. All pix must have ID list and be dated. Please: privatize the sensational data in your files and make sure it's okay to list young children before sending it. I anticipate self-publication by May of 2000, 3 volumes at least, and printing costs that will probably be around $60+ for the set plus priority mailing costs of at least $10----and that's without me making a dime, and I have thousands invested in this project. This first edition is being put together by me in honor of my deceased mother who co-founded the Luxembourg Society of WI. Send an email to: mlwisc@aol.com to discuss inclusion of your families. Note: many of you out there may not realize that your Luxembourg Iowa or Minnesotan ancestor stopped here in Ozaukee County, WI, first. If they did, then we want you! I am trying to get more than 10,000 people for the first edition. Just a few examples of surnames in this text: Anzia, Antoine, Binat, Binsfeld, Dietz, Grun/Green, Fideler/Fiedler, Mallinger, Gonnering, Schanen (two clans), Prom (two clans), Mans, Decker, Becker, Steinmetz/Steinmetzer, Mans, Remich, Barnich, Roob, Wellenstein, Krick, Krier, Kultgen, Martin, Klas, Link/Linck(Hessians who married Luxies), Ledenbach, Romanesco(Dutch who married Luxies), Speltz, Kohner, Reuter, Reiter, Roeser, Mondloch, Weiler, Wester, Weyker, and hundreds more. NEED SOME ARENDTS, ALTENDORFS, ELLENBECKERS, BURMESCH, MOOTZ, CLOSS, FLIES, RIES, THILL, AND MANY OTHERS TO CONTRIBUTE YET. Regards, Melissa

    3. Sansu I have found Lahr on my very detailed map I got from a very kind gentlemen in PA. I too have ancestors from Kreis Bitburg, town of Bauler, also very small. Your Lahr is West of Bitburg on Hwy/Rd 50, south just a little bit about 2/3 way to Luxembourg. It is actually not that far from Bauler. Hope this helps you out. Let me know if you need more information and I will do my best. Also of note, my map shows a church at Lahr. Happy Hunting Karen

    1. [TRIER-ROOTS-L] Location of town-Lahr
    2. The town of Lahr I am looking for is supposed to be in Kreis Bitburg, near Bitburg and Trier. It must be a fairly small village, as the two Lahr I find in LDS records are in other parts of Germany. Any info about exact location of this village and of the Mueller family, parents Matthias and Margaretha Ambrose(Ambrosi) Mueller would be of help. Sons Christian and Matthias and two daughters. Also, the exact location of Roehl, Germany also in Kreis Bitburg, and Duddeldorf, also thought to be in Kreis Bitburg. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Sansu

    1. [TRIER-ROOTS-L] Bloem Family
    2. Joyce Bloem Carpentieri
    3. Hello everyone: I am new to the list and am not even sure this is where I belong. All suggestions are welcome. I am searching for the ancestors of Johannes Paulus Bloem (Blohm?) from either Crefeld or Elberfeld in Germany. John Bloem (Lt. Col. João Bloem in Brazil) arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on March 23, 1823 at age 24 settling here til his death in Porto Alegre, R.S. in 1851. The only information I have about his ancestry is his father's name. Mateus Bloem (Portuguese spelling). Other than that I know nothing about the family in Germany. Documents here show various spellings of his name including Blohm. His birthplace is also uncertain as documents show both Crefeld and Elberfeld and birth year between 1795 and 1799. If I can be of any help from here in Brazil, let me know. Thanks, ********************** Joyce Bloem Cotia, SP - BRAZIL jbc@bloem.org ICQ/UIN: 18658218 - --------------------------- Researching: Bloem (Brazil & Krefeld & Elberfeld, Alemanha/Deutschland) and its variations:Blohm, Boloem, Pluim, Blumm, Blom, Blum; Albuquerque (Brazil & Portugal) Azevedo e Costa Leite (Brazil & Mondim de Bastos, Portugal)

    2. Frank; There is a Dorfsippenbuch for Thalexweiler that you may be able to find: Familienbuch zum Kirchenbuch by Gerhard Storb, printed at Lebach, 1982. This is the compiled parish records of St. Albanus at Thalexweiler. I have references (but not the books) for over 500 of these books, and Illingen, Eppelborn and Marpingen are not listed. If you write German, post a query on the proper German state's genpage asking for a lookup and there is a fair chance that you will get a response. I have both asked and "looked-up," and it worked for me and others. Vincent Falter Hope that this helps!

    3. I'm also working on Thome. My greatgrandfather was Mathias Thome (1863-1943) who emigrated from Luxembourg in 1880 and went on to settle in the Chippewa Falls, WI area through St. Paul and Bemidji, MN. According to the marriage record when he married my greatgrandmother Susie Funk (Fonck) in 1893 in St. Paul, MN, his father's name was Theodore Thome and his mother was Elisabeth Moras (Mores). Mathias L. Thome was a witness at the marriage. Are any of these names familiar? I am hoping to determine the area in Luxembourg where the family originated.
