And here, I think is a mistake. The town Till (near Kalkar) in county Kleve did and does not belong to the regions, which are mentioned for the books. Kleve belongs to Rheinland. I do not know whether there are existing other books for this region. Sorry about that. 1. [TRIER-ROOTS-L] Family name of Diederich
    2. I am looking for the actual town (birthplace) of my Great Grandfather. It was noted on his son's death record that his father was born in Trier, Germany. I wrote to the archives in Trier but they replied they had no record. They suggested that he could have been born in any of the surrounding towns. If anyone is researching the DIEDERICH family from the area of Trier, I am looking for more information on BERNARD DIEDERICH, born near Trier in 1836. He was in Chicago, IL by 1860. Joyce, in CA

    2. Phyllis
    3. Hi Everyone: Was wondering if anyone would have a copy of the book "the america emmigration from the county of Daun in the district of Trier in the 19th century" written by Josef Mergen. My ggrandfather's name is in the book (HEINRICH BERNARDY). I rented the film of the book from the FHL, but it is not the best in some sections. Was hoping someone might have a copy and can give me the page # that his name appears on. Thanks, Phyllis e-mail address: b.b@cyberback.com

    1. [TRIER-ROOTS-L] Re: TRIER-ROOTS-D Josef Mergen
    2. To Michael Palmer: Regarding your answer to Keith Kurtz in which you quote Josef Mergen's book, where can one find a copy of "Den Auswanderun aus den ehemals preußishen Teilen des Saarlandes in 19. Jahrhundert"? The on-line FHL had a call number, but when I asked to order the book at the local FHL today, they advised me that books cannot be sent to the library, only film and fishe. Do you think it is available by inter library loan to a regular local library? If you have immediate access to that volume, would you mind looking up the Renn family, in particular Peter Renn and Mary Schmidt with son Mathias. I am interested in any families with the name Renn. They were from the Gennweiler/Illingen/Uchtelfangen area of Trier. Thanks so much for your input. Diane Murphy, Louisville, KY DZMroots@aol.com

    1. [TRIER-ROOTS-L] Kramer/Kraemer
    2. Carol Wright
    3. Hello This is my first time on a list. My ancestors KRAMER and VOLTZ came with a group of glassmakers from Karlsbrunn nd Fishbach, Saarland to Philadelphia in 1773, to Manheim, Pa., to Fredrick, Md, and then to Greensboro and New Geneva, Pa., where they opened a glasshouse, Gallatin and Kramer. . The Kramers had a glasshouse in Karlsbrunn, Saarland (Nassau-Saarbrueken) from about 1723 - 1773. My ancestor, Johann Baltzer KRAMER , was born there in 1749 to Johann Adam Kramer and Elizabeth Stenger, as were siblings Martin, George, and Adam, who also came to the U.S. at the same time. There were also Voltz, Reppert, and Eberhardt families in the group. The Eberhardts had a glasshoue in Fishbach, and had emigrated from Budingen and Brietenborn in Hesse. There were also Kramers there , but I have found no one there from my direct line. Where did my Kramers and Stengers live before Karlsbrunn? I have tried to find Lutheran (Evangelical) records in Karlsbrun, but found only Catholic, and after my families left. Where did they go for baptisms, marriages, etc.? The FHC lists several books that have Karlsbrunn records, but they do not lend books. I would truly appreciate any help.. Carol

    2. Joann I checked on Fellan and Hansen on a fascinating website www.calle.com/world/index.html which displays data and maps of almost any place in the world. Neither showed up in Lux - Fellan did not show up in Germany either although Fellen is east of Frankfurt. Hansen, Germany is found in the northern part near Denmark. Best I could do. Dan H.
