He was born 21 June 1801, baptised 26 Sept 1801 at the New Hurley Reformed Dutch Church (now in Ulster Co, but was in Orange Co.). Appears to have had 1st wife, name unknown, and 1 child, George (1835). Lvd in 1841 at Little Britain, Tn of New Windsor, Orange Co. Married on 7 June 1841 at the Washington Hotel in Orange Co. to JERUSHA RAINEY, a widow. They had 2 children: HARRIET (1842) and jOSEPHINE (1844?). George served in Civil War, entolled 3 Jan 1862 at Buffalo,NY for 2 yrs... Co. C, 21st Div of NY Infantry. Have his Civil War Pension record. He married Jennie Fidle, they had 4 children: George F (1869), Mary (1872), Charles A. (1880), and Eliza A. (1883). Parents of John are JACOB TREMPER (1776-1830) and BRIDGIT 'BREGGIE' SMITH (1770-1860). John had siblings JEMAIMA (1794) AND ELISABETH (1796).
