He is in my extended Tremper family, and in the book I've published called "Descendants of Johan Jacob Tromper, jr (1715-1754) and Anna Maria Pfeiffer (1719-?) of New York City and Ulster County, NY and beyond...". He was a son of Walter Longman Tremper (1877) and Sarah Virginia Overton (1878). He had 2 sisters, Virginia and Sara Elinor. He gew up in Brooklyn, married Maude May Everheart (1905) in 1928. He was known as "Tremp"., grew up in Brooklyn, attended U of PA and played for the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team in 1927 and 1928, then was manager of a Dodgers farm team in Macon, GA for a few years. He lived there in 1930. Maude died in April, 1976 in Suffolk Co, NY. He moved to FL in 1977 and married, 2nd, Evelyn Hickman, and they lived in Clearwater, Pinellas Co FL until he died at age 89 in Pinellas Co. Evelyn was still alive and lvg in FL as of April, 2005 when we last wrote about this family for our book. I have a lot more if you want to contact me at islpris at verizon.net and chat some more. She says that they were my grandfather's (Wilfrid Leigh) aunt and uncle. They would have been about 75 in 1971 when the picture was taken. I am assuming that Doris was the blood relative of my grandfather and her maiden name could have been either Leigh or Garside. The picture shows a brick/vinyl house with the name F. Tremper and the number 20 and they could have lived in either Ocean City or Lakehurst, New Jersey. If any of this sounds familiar please let me know. Jacob Dyk about 1894; George S. (1876) apparently unmarried who was a farmer and died 1940; and, Eleanor M. 'Ella', born June, 1880. All were born in NY, probably in Wayne Co. Ella married Clarence D. Cortright on "Sat night, July 2, at 10 o'clock by Rev.J. Dyk in the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. J. Dyk." Year was not given in the newspaper clipping from a scrapbook at the Wayne Co. Historian's Office in Lyons, Wayne Co. I believe it was in Herkimer, Herkimer Co, NY. As of 1920 census, Eleanor Tremper and Clarence Cortright had 2 children: John M. (1905) and Matthew (1907), but Matthew died young in Sept 1907 and is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Clyde, Wayne Co, NY. (from Cemetery Records at Wayne Co. Historian's Office.
