    1. [TT-OVERSEAS] Anglo Italian Research
    2. Mrs Julie Goucher
    3. Posted with the permission of the List Admin. At the end of January 2002 the Anglo-Italian list was created as a discussion forum for those who are researching their Anglo-Italian Ancestry. (Anglo-Italian-L-request@rootsweb.com) Through discussion on the list it has become apparent that there is no formal Society is available to such researchers and thus researching Anglo-Italian Ancestry can be rather isolating. It was felt that the long term aims would be to: 1. Form a Anglo-Italian Family History Society 2. To develop a web page for links and other useful bits of information. Both of these are to run along side the Anglo-Italian Mailing List and it is intended that this will be open to all those researching in this area, and it is hoped that those without Internet Access will also benefit. Italian Genealogy Web Page http://www.dreamwater.net/anglersrest/Italian.htm The Italian Genealogy Page now has a mention of the formation of a Society, and asks those interested to join the Anglo-Italian list. ORLANDO Page http://www.dreamwater.net/anglersrest/Orlando.htm which holds info on the One Name Study and the Orlando List. Italian Links Web Page http://www.dreamwater.net/anglersrest/Italianlinks.htm Nothing there yet! but we are in the process of gathering material for this site. ANY suggestions are welcome. Please support this worthwhile project. Henry BENNET- age 48-burial December 31-1817..listed in East Stoke Parish Register. He left a Widow-Mary Vocum? BENNET who he married in 1795 and eight children. They came to America about 1830. Also burial the same day for Thomas BENNET -age 80-listed on same parish Register. It is said that Henry was building something and died while doing work. I wonder if Henry is the son of Thomas age 80 and both died in an accident. I find it strange that the two should be buried the same day. I found a Sarah BENNET who was buried a few years later and wonder if she was the wife of Thomas...she was 82 years old. Some of the adult, married sons of Henry lived in or near the towns of Highwood and Lulworth. They sold homes for passage money. I found a Thomas H. Thankyou so much. TO/ DIANE. E-m: Diane.Queen@tesco.net TT/0-147 U.S.A. Hugh M. WALLACE, b.14 Aug 1778, PA, d. 15 Feb 1864, OH Besides the obvious, his birthplace is what is elusive to us, some even say VA, or maybe KY. I have a deep feeling his forefathers landed here in America, circa 1650-1700. There were several blacksmiths, ironworkers, and farmers in the early lot, and seeing how they were a true "WALLACE", wandering with there heart and soul, and a need to survive (my opinion only), I believe they followed, and maybe led, the curious seeking the new frontiers. His one son John H. B. 1823, ended up in Cowlitz Prairie, Wa. where he died peacefully an old man for the era he travelled. There is documented, several thousand acres given to them in KY, in the late 1700s. I can't rule out the SC landings of many Scotch-Irish in the 1600s, if that is a true belief, but can't seem to make a good connection. And lastly, if we knew what the "H" stood for it give us a clue as to his real family, as we believe his father was a John, and his father a Moses. Enough babbling, is there anyone with a connection to OLE HUGH? Thanks TO/ WILLIAM WALLACE OF FLORIDA. E-m: Www10941@aol.com TT/0-147 U.S.A., Australia I am looking for descendents of Robert & Elizabeth HUBBARD. They were both born in Somerset. Robert in Durston in approx 1834, Elizabeth at High Littleton in 1836. Elizabeth's mn was ELMS. Both families moved to Lower Machen/Risca in S. Wales. Robert & Elizabeth married at Lower Machen in 1854. Their 1st child, George, was born at Risca approx 1859. I then found them on 1861 Census at Ryhope, Co.Durham, NE England. Mary Ann was born in Ryhope in 1861, then Eliza was born in 1867. They may have had other children, I haven't found out. They then disappeared, & were not on the 1881 Census. I think they may have gone to USA or Australia, with other relatives who went to those places. Anyone recognise these details? TO/ JAN. E-m: Terry@heatht.freeserve.co.uk. TT/0-154 South Africa, World Wide I have an elusive great great aunt by the name of Edith MATTHEWS who was born in Rugby Warwickshire 1877 and in 1891 she was living with her father, step mother and brother John (my ancestor) in Merrow Guildford Surrey England. Edith became a "nurse" and eventually married and had at least 3 children. I have photographs to confirm this, but No trace of Edith has been found. It is possible that Edith, aged 21 in 1898 was so inspired by the Nursing Association that was created in Merrow Guildford Surrey during 1898 that she became more involved and became a nurse, or at least connected to the nursing profession. The Red Cross have NO record of Edith. There is a strong possibility that Edith went to South Africa during the Boer War (1899-1902).
