The following notice appeared in the Augusta, Georgia, Chronicle 3 Mar 1798, page 2, column 3: "I do hereby forewarn all persons from trafficking, trading, or dealing with my wife Mary Tredaway, for I will not pay any of her contracts; likewise I forwarn all persons from entertaining the said Mary Tredaway for any longer time than twenty-four hours, as she absconded my bed and board in the night of the 24th instant without any cause; and any person entertaining her as aforesaid over the above term may expect to suffer the penalty of the law. Signed Elijah Tredaway on 25 Feb 1798." The book South Carolina Baptists, 1670-1805, page 196, footnote 59, give information extracted from 1802, Charlestown Association Minutes: "Bethesda Baptist Church is now know as Treadway Church, Elijah Treadway on January 20, 1810, having conveyed 4 acres to Upper 3 Runs Church on west side of Runs as a lot for a meeting house (Aiken County CC, Deeds E, p409); the church is located near Hawthorne, northwest of Upper 3 Runs and about 10 miles from the Savanna River."
