    3. Hoping that there are more new researchers on this list. Still trying to find our link. Percilla Treadway born about 1799 married Jonathan Wesley Woody. Percilla was declared to be half Cherokee Indian through her mother, who is only listed as Crutcher on the census records. Have yet to find out who exactly it was, some say her first name was Judith. Percilla's father was indicated by some as being a John Treadway from North Carolina. No marriage records seem to exist listing this union of Treadway/Crutcher... however being that she was Indian there may not be any record since such unions were frowned upon. I am told that often a preacher would just annonce in the church that the two had formed a union of marriage - preachers were severely punished for preforming marriage rites between "heathens" and Christians. Percilla and John Woody migrated from N.C. to North Georgia where he and their sons are attributed as being pioneers/settlers of the Lumpkin County Georgia region. Percilla was a mid-wife and the only doctor for miles around during this time frame of the early 1800's. She was written about in the North Georgia Journal which indicated she was half Cherokee. Would appreciate any well documented information on the parents of Percilla Treadway Woody. Leslie Thomas All emails from this address are certified Virus Free by Norton's Virus Scanner...
