His father, also a JEPTHA (1) KITE, was born in England. Jeptha's (2) mother was born in England. Jeptha (2) was the third child & first son of this union. The first two children, both daughters, were born in England. The eldest sister of Jeptha (2) married a BELL. The 1870 census records show your Jeptha (2) Kite was married to an Eliza A. -- they are in the New Mexico Territory census enumeration -- see JOSEPH (sic) KITE entry. Other messages in this thread, connecting the Kite (Jeptha) family with the May (Eliza) family -- and -- the May (Eliza) family to the Treadaway (sic) family shows a distinct connection, also, to the East Tennessee families of the KITE's, MAY's and TREADWAY's. I.E.: The KITE family was in the Embreeville, (now) Carter Co TN region [old Greene Co TN & Washington Co NC, before TN statehood]. This KITE family was connected to the TREADWAY family by the following link: Robert Treadway/Tredaway (1762 MD/1835 TN) m Nancy Lynch (c 1762 now, Bedford Co VA/1845 Carter Co TN) -- one of their daughters, Martha "Patsey" Treadway, married Harmon Davenport. Harmon & "Patsey" Davenport's daughter married Samuel KITE. The same Robert Treadway/Tredaway (1762/1835) & Nancy Lynch (1762/1845) had a son named Robert (2) Treadway who married Artymacy May Bayless. Artymacy "Arty" May Bayless was born 27 October 1805 in TN, a daughter of Daniel Lake Bayless (18 Apr 1779/14 Feb 1867 TN) married 05 Mar 1803 TN, Mary MAY (18 Jul 1779/-). Robert (2) Treadway & Artymacy May Bayless had a son named John A. TREADWAY who married 01 Apr 1852 TN, Mary Anna MAY (b 06 Jan 1833 TN), a daughter of Samuel MAY (b 26 Aug 1797/12 Mar 1842) & Mary MILLION (27 Mar 1799/24 Feb 1863), a daughter of Jacob Million. [Samuel MAY (1797) was the uncle of Artymacy May Bayless.] [Artymacy May Bayless Treadway, and her daughter-in-law, Mary Anna May Treadway, were second cousins.] Add to this mix the B. MAY in Arkansas census data, with his wife, Margaret -- and you come back to Tennessee again. The MAY family proginator is one, Casimore (sic) MAY, who died in East Tennessee on 31 May 1836 and was married to Mary HORNE (d 18 Feb 1832). He had brothers who came to America with him: John, Reuben, Samuel & George. These MAY brothers had sons who bore names such as: John, David, Samuel, Barnabus (Barnes) m Margaret Ruble, Casimore (sic), Jacob, William, Isaac, Martin, George, James, Edward. These descendants migrated to different areas of America -- including Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
