I have a copy of the 1850 census for Scott County, (now Sebastion Co.) Arkansas. It lists: James Treadway, age 46, m, farmer, born NC Margaret ", age 40, f, born NC Edward B., age 18, m, Lucy J., age 17, f, Benjamin F., age 17, m, Betsy E., age 16, f, Mathew G., age 13, m Charlotte, age 12, f Blainey A, age 8, f Most of the children were born in NC, including Benjamin F. Some of the information that I have is that James was married and he had children. His wife died and he married Margaret Neal Blaylock, who was a widow with children, Edward (Edmund), Lucy Jane, Pyalis Elizabeth (Betsy), Matthew Gibson, and Clara Ann (Blainey). According to court records in 1850, James Treadway obtained guardianship of Margaret's children. My husband knows from his family that his ggrandfather Benjamin Franklin was from the Ft. Smith area of Arkansas. I have also fournd Eliza Kite in the 1870 census for Barry County, Missouri, Shoal Creek Township. It list her and James, age 10, Frank, age 8, Richard, age 2 and Jefferson, age 1. I don't know if his name was Jefferson or the census taker misunderstood Jeptha. Eliza's husband Jeptha Kite is not listed on this census. Pat
