I had just posted a question to Becky to ask if she knew whether the two oldest sons of Eliza Kite, in the 1870 Barry Co MO census, were actually KITE's, because they fit the time frame of the marriage of B. F. and Eliza, not Jeptha & Eliza. That would make them TREADWAY's, not KITE's. The 1870 Barry Co MO census calls them KITE. Now that you have solved that issue, can you also solve the issue of whether or not these two TREADWAY sons continued to use the KITE surname?...until what point in time did they revert to the correct use of the surname TREADWAY? [Finding children of remarried parents who "adopt" their step-father's surname is the most difficult part of the hunt!] This is what genealogy is all about...sharing...I thank both you ladies for helping hands.
