I am, actually, a TREADWAY researcher but the Kite's and May's criss-cross thru my Tennessee line with some frequency. I have found, whom I believe to be this KITE proginator, in the form of JEPTHA KITE (born circa 1787-1792 in England). He arrived in America in 1832 at the Port of New York. His given age on the manifest was 40. He was travelling with his wife, Susannah, age 32 (born England), and children, Sarah age 11, son Richard age 9, daughter Susannah age 6, daughter Mary age 4, daughter Harriet age 1 (all born in England). This is the same Jeptha & "Susan" in the 1850 Arkansas census. Richard, the son, is grown and living in a neighboring (Barry) Arkansas county with his wife and three children.
