My mother is a Treadway (Treadaway, Tredway, Tredaway) born in KY, while I was born across the state line in TN. I've found the surname spelling makes no difference to which branch you descend, since all the branches are on the same tree. I have Treadaway's, also, in Louisiana. It's really a small world. The tips are easy to share and you are more than welcome for the little bit of information that I can offer. Still searching for more...Claudia

I'm not positive which was her first name and which was her middle name. A search of the US GenWeb site for Plaquemines Co LA should add information to your LA Treadaway line. There were many Treadway/Tredway/Tredaway/Treadaway men who served in the Revoutionary War. Are you asking, particularly, whether the LA Treadaway's served in the Revolutionary War? Keep in mind that many times the men left the state they were living in and went to the state of their birth to enlist for military service. Of Arthur and Rose I have no specific knowledge of their blood kinship. Hope this little bit helps. Claudia

All of the chatting about Treadways in Missouri makes me wonder if anyone has information about my Missouri Treadway ancestor. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Dave Conley I am looking for information about Dewitt Maynard TREADWAY born in New York in 1820. Probably lived at Watervliet Shaker village until about 1850 with brother Peter Hayden, their cousin/sister Hannah Almira and sister/cousin Orange Maria. Brought there in 1823 by father/uncle Reuben TREADWAY. In 1858 Hayden returned to Watervliet from the “Society Islands” with two children to be educated. Dewitt married Lucy _____, born in New York in 1832. They had a daughter named Isadora B., variously listed as being born in Iowa and Missouri.

JEREMIAH TREADAWAY (b 1849 MS) [This is the ONLY Benjamin Franklin Treadaway (aka B./B. F../Ben/Benjamin/Franklin/Frank) who fits the time span to be of age to fight in the Civil War -- all other Benjamin Franklin Treadway's (et.al.) have been accounted for.] Could this, possibly, be OUR Benjamin Franklin? I think it just might be him. As for the MAY family connection -- this B. F.'s family was closely associated to the MAY family of East Tennessee through several TREADWAY/MAY connections. CJ

I had just posted a question to Becky to ask if she knew whether the two oldest sons of Eliza Kite, in the 1870 Barry Co MO census, were actually KITE's, because they fit the time frame of the marriage of B. F. and Eliza, not Jeptha & Eliza. That would make them TREADWAY's, not KITE's. The 1870 Barry Co MO census calls them KITE. Now that you have solved that issue, can you also solve the issue of whether or not these two TREADWAY sons continued to use the KITE surname?...until what point in time did they revert to the correct use of the surname TREADWAY? [Finding children of remarried parents who "adopt" their step-father's surname is the most difficult part of the hunt!] This is what genealogy is all about...sharing...I thank both you ladies for helping hands.
