He must have been born in the late 1800's. He was a Rag and Bone merchant, very successful and a good provider, if a heavy drinker! He owned quite a bit of land in Rugby and was very well known. I inherited a couple of small ornaments via my mother that came from the house in Jubilee Street. Harry Tranter was married to Harriet (nee Turner). They lived in Jubilee Street Rugby and had a number of children, one of whom was Lillian.....I have a photograph. I also recall an Uncle Jack, Uncle Lal, Aunt Beatrice (know as Beat) and Aunt Dorothy (known as Doll), Auntie Gladys and Uncle Walter. Harriet was my mother's grandmother but only Harry's Step grandaughter. Her own mother died so she was bought up by the Tranters and was always very close to them. My mothers father was Wlliam Turner - Harriet's first son, adopted by Harry Tranter when he married Harriet. I will see if your email is still operating and try to end you a copy of the photograph.....my name is Julie and I was born in Rugby...I actually remember Harry Tranter and some of his children. My mother's name was Maud. I now live in Cape Town South Africa,jce@yebo.co.za Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
