Author: nadofrog Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.tranter/55.61.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: John Stewart Tranter - Thank you for your note. I'm not sure how often you are on this site. I've been away from it for over six months. Was great to hear from you and to have you connect the dots. I will almost remember your mother as an energetic 60-something year old. Time passes quickly and we of course are approaching your mothers age. I was sad to hear of your losing your wife, Barbara and your son Richard. It sounds as though you've been blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren all living close by you. I have three kids. My oldest is in the military as am I. My youngest son is 17 and a high school senior. My daughter is a 15 year old high school sophomore. I think of my children as they approach (or in the case of my oldest son, pass) the age I was when I traveled through New Zealand and met your mother. Her kindness remains a great inspiration. I'm not sure if I've got William Tranter and Rosanna Cooper or not. My great grandparents were Charles Cooper marrying Miriam Tranter in 1909 in Victoria, BC Canada. Charles born in 1873 in Codicote, Hertfordshire and Miriam born 1882 in Chesley, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada (but her sisters and family were from Catshill near Bromsgrove, Worcester). There has to be a Tranter connection here from the same place! I will have to work on this some more. Jacquie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: jce74 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.tranter/61.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, my great grandfather was Harry (Henry )Tranter who lived in Jubilee Street, Rugby. He must have been born in the late 1800's. He was a Rag and Bone merchant, very successful and a good provider, if a heavy drinker! He owned quite a bit of land in Rugby and was very well known. I inherited a couple of small ornaments via my mother that came from the house in Jubilee Street. Harry Tranter was married to Harriet (nee Turner). They lived in Jubilee Street Rugby and had a number of children, one of whom was Lillian.....I have a photograph. I also recall an Uncle Jack, Uncle Lal, Aunt Beatrice (know as Beat) and Aunt Dorothy (known as Doll), Auntie Gladys and Uncle Walter. Harriet was my mother's grandmother but only Harry's Step grandaughter. Her own mother died so she was bought up by the Tranters and was always very close to them. My mothers father was Wlliam Turner - Harriet's first son, adopted by Harry Tranter when he married Harriet. I will see if your email is still operating and try to end you a copy of the photograph.....my name is Julie and I was born in Rugby...I actually remember Harry Tranter and some of his children. My mother's name was Maud. I now live in Cape Town South Africa,jce@yebo.co.za Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
