I was told in the past that Babicsak is not Hungarian, possibly Slovak or Ukranian. Also the first entry I found in church book listed the name as Lutheran and Tot. I searched area villages and looked for Lutheran Churches. Did not find the name anywhere else. Lots of Babicsak in the area today as well as in Brazil. Only my family in United States. For the past few years I have been researching both my maternal side of the family who were Donauschwaben and my paternal side who were Transylvania Saxon from Nagyselyk or Hermannstadt. I've had outstanding luck in researching my Donauschwaben ancestors using the numerous Familienbuchen (family books) written on the various Donauschwaben villages and which contain birth, death, and marriage information for the past few hundred years. My question is, are there comparable Familienbuchen (family books) available on the Transylvanian towns, and if so, where could I purchase them or view them on-line? 3. Hi Robert, I have not heard from Janos Kocs. It may be because he may not read English. I know he knows Hungarian and Romanian. 3. I would be interested in knowing what resources are available for researching my family from the area of Arad & Semlec. My grandmother's and her three daughters' names are incorrectly identified by the Ellis Island immigrant resource (arrival 1910); the record has been "amended" by me as correcting it is not an option. My grandfather whose arrival preceded theirs is yet to be found in any records--I expect his departure was not through legal channels as he had "gone over the fence" (my grandmother's description of his awol from the A/H cavalry). Any suggestions would be welcome Carol Smith Milwaukee, WI ________________________________ On Behalf Of marlo50@bex.net Sent: August 6, 2013 7:51 AM To: transylvania@rootsweb.com Cc: KOCS Janos - ROM; KOCS Janos - ROM; KOCS Janos - ROM Subject: Re: [TRANSYLVANIA] Transylvania Janos Kocs,  Your name was suggested to me for some help.
