Has anyone had any experience in getting a New York adoption record unsealed? The time period in question is over 70 years ago. As I understand it, it takes a court order to gain any access. Short of the court order route, I am aware of the state's adoption registry in New York, but was wondering if there were any other avenues to explore, since one might only get very limited information via the registry.
