Do you mean between the name variants? Such as Fawkner/Faulkner? That can work with only two variants, but when the name frequently appears in four or more forms, it is not very satisfying to the reader -- in my opinion. I am not aware that there is any single, widely accepted standard for how to handle name variants. J. H.
