Thanks everyone. I think that even though FTM 2010 will technically work on Windows 8 that it is really not compatible with it. I had based the Compatibility on https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/win8/CompatCenter/Home where Microsoft says it does work. Anyway the compact file fixed part of my problem temporary. Looks like I will have to get FTM 2012. Amy
