Did the death occur more than 40 years ago? If so, anyone can make a genealogical request. http://www.state.nj.us/health/vital/gen.shtml d ----- Original Message ----- From: "Genealady" <genealady@gmail.com> To: transitional-genealogists-forum@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, December 15, 2012 9:56:45 AM Subject: [TGF] Ordering documents for clients Hello everyone! I accepted my first paying client recently (woo!) and I've tracked his family to the point I need the death certificate to look for the parents. Long story short - when you need to order documents but the state (NJ in this case) wants direct descendants to order only, what do you do? My client doesn't want to do that stuff, wants me to do it, but how does that work? It said I'd need a copy of his ID, but he lives in Ireland. Advice would be welcome! Thank you! Hi, I am having the same problem except with a death record for a person who died in Mississippi. I sent for the record of a person who has no direct descendants. She was my Mother's aunt by marriage and they sent back a notice that only direct descendants can request a copy of her death certificate. What do you do next in a case like that?
