Thanks Cathy! I guess I wasn't clear enough. I've downloaded hundreds of software programs and I even spend a half hour or so (not enough!) to teach people in my genealogy classes how to avoid pitfalls such as this, e-mail scams and so forth. Although I'm 100% sure I unchecked everything that I needed to uncheck, I could be wrong. After I calm down about this whole thing, I might try to install it on Firefox. I only use FF when it's absolutely mandatory such as with the on-line BU Genealogy Research course I'm taking. Since my motivation to use the toolbar was partly driven by the course, I suppose that would be the place to put it. Once again, thanks..I wish I had an answer to your "daily freeze"! 2 or 3 times a week, I run Glary Utilities for registry errors, then CCleaner for temp files and also registry errors and finally Spybot Search and Destroy.all free. Maybe one of these might find some nonsense running in the background that you don't need. I had no problems with the install, and my home page remained the same. When installing you have to uncheck any options that you don't want - I unchecked them all. "Clicking past" those options without deleting the checks basically tells the install to "go ahead" and install them. I don't know why your system froze; mine does that on a daily basis! Cathy Champion Fenton, MO 63026 (near St. Louis) _____ From: Dave Robison dave@oldbones.co I feel compelled to share my experience! Because of the difficulty with the installation, I figured it wasn't worth the grief. I uninstalled Relatively Curious. Upon re-opening the browser, my home page was changed. WOW! So, any ideas about "What have I done wrong???"
