    3. Has anyone looked at their lists of offerings and made a comparison? I subscribe to both newspaperarchive.com and genealogybank.com. Even at only $39, newspapers.com would have to offer what the other two did not have to draw my attention. I agree with your assessment of archive.com, and add worldvitalrecords.com to the list I tried and found not worth giving them my money. best regards, Dee ----- Original Message ----- From: "Molly" <mkcindc@yahoo.com> To: transitional-genealogists-forum@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2013 4:09:16 AM Subject: [TGF] Opinions on newspapers.com? As you all know, there are lots if sites we can subscribe to. Given the discount Fold3 is offering to members for newspapers.com, I thought it prudent to leverage the collective wisdom of the group. Is an annual subscription worth it (for $40)? I do have one to newspaperarchive.com and have had great success - as long as the people I'm looking for we're in one of the major cities. Would they be about the same? I ask bc I did get a subscription to Archives.com and have been very disappointed - at least for the people I need, they've had only the same index info I find on familysearch and ancestry. 3. I did a comparison of the service to both NewspaperArchive and GenealogyBank when it was first announced: http://genealogy.about.com/b/2012/12/01/why-newspapers-com.htm They've since added another 6 million newspaper pages, but I don't know how many of these are exclusive to Newspapers.com. They do offer a 7-day free trial. You are required to give a credit-card, but you CAN cancel online within the 7 days. You can also browse the lists of available newspaper issues and dates without subscribing at all. Those lists exist on NewspaperArchive and GenealogyBank as well. Hope this helps! 3. I have found both NewpaperArchive.com and GenealogyBank.com to be more than useful. I have yet to find anything on newspapers.com, though I did sign up and try it. Of course, as we know, it depends to some extent on the geography of your work. 3. I have not found much on newspapers.com but before you buy, go to Browse, then click on United States, choose a state, city and see what newspapers and years they have. They may only have one or two issues for a year. I use GenealogyBank, WorldVital Records, and NewspaperArchive.
