    3. Thank you all for your suggestions and insight. That's what I needed. I just wasn't sure why the census taker would have crossed out the columns for occupation and industry for that whole household. Barbara gave me an answer that had not even crossed my mind. :)  Sometimes that's just what you need. Since I was inquiring for a friend, that creates an interesting situation!
