I would be most interested in learning which for pay web sites are considered "the best bang for the buck" without duplicating too much. Even at only $39, newspapers.com would have to offer what the other two did not have to draw my attention. I agree with your assessment of archive.com, and add worldvitalrecords.com to the list I tried and found not worth giving them my money. best regards, Dee ----- Original Message ----- From: "Molly" <mkcindc@yahoo.com> To: transitional-genealogists-forum@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2013 4:09:16 AM Subject: [TGF] Opinions on newspapers.com? Is an annual subscription worth it (for $40)? I do have one to newspaperarchive.com and have had great success - as long as the people I'm looking for we're in one of the major cities. Would they be about the same? I ask bc I did get a subscription to Archives.com and have been very disappointed - at least for the people I need, they've had only the same index info I find on familysearch and ancestry. I have always been curious about Newspaper Archive, and wondering if the full version offers any advantage over the library version, which I'm able to access at home from my local library. Recently I saw an offer on the APG Member Discount Program (http://www.apgen.org/members/discounts.html) for a 1-month free subscription to Newspaper Archive. When I called the company to set it up, I asked if there was any difference, and the customer service representative said no. A little research on my part verified that answer. So, if you're able to access Newspaper Archive through your local library, don't spend money on a subscription! I have found GenealogyBank worth the money, and have subscribed to it for almost 5 years now.
