If you have a relative from New York State, this is a great resource.     3. Also suggest using the resources in Ken Marks' blog The Ancestor Hunt - lots and lots of libraries are scanning the papers they held and making the available to the public for free. He also has some great hints re alternative spellings to use to maximize OCR scanning.
