I am just starting on my Towell surname and have yet to inquire at the Augusta County Courthouse concerning records for this couple and would appreciate any possible ideas or leads. Please, I've been at this for 35 years. I have checked all published sources for Augusta County, but I haven't been to the courthouse in person. My John F.[not J.] Towell was in Rowan County NC in 1820 with a wife [name not found], son and daughter. He married Mary "Polly" Bowers in 1823, his first wife having presumably died. All my information from 1823 to present is solid. I have been looking for a better trail further back for 25 years.
