Most importantly for researchers they were members of the Religious Society of Friends, aka Quaker. My great-grandmother was very proud she was a birth right Quaker The Friends kept extensive records. I've not seen the Friends mentioned in any post and am suggest mining the society's records would be very helpful to many.

When Fowel died in 1678, she married Edward Middleton, and they moved to Charles Town, SC. Sarah Dewe was probably the daugher of Capt. Thomas Dewe & wife Mary (McKenzie?) Thomas Dewe is thought to have died sometime before 1690 in Barbados.

I am her g/granddaughter through her daughter, Opal. For the last several years of her life she stayed with Opal, until her death (3/30/1979, and she was in fact 99); I was 7 when she died and I have some pictures taken with her and memories of her while I was growing up (like she drank Mountain Dew all day long and warm milk before she went to bed, stuff like that). As far as I was told, she was a full-blooded Creek Indian, but I don't think she was registered as such. Anyway, if you ever get this post and would like to swap info, I'd be happy to. Andrea

I couldn't find her maiden name and couldn't recall her husband's name. I am the granddaughter of her daughter, Opal (d. 1998) and Opal's husband, Warren Campbell (d. 1982). I couldn't gather what your connection is, or if you were only responding to someone else's query, but I remember this lady very well and have several pictures of her from when I was a kid. I believe she was full-blooded Creek Indian. She was living with Opal in Eureka, MO, for several years before she died, and I visited them quite often. She died right after I turned 7. I can't really offer any further backwards research but I can give you some lateral and forward information from Sarah E. Towell on. And all of this info on John Isaac Towell is good to have as well. I couldn't pin down which John Towell he was. I only found him through looking at Ripley, County Missouri Records of marriages. He is listed on 2/9/1898 to "Emma Hobbs" which is I guess what Sarah went by. Very interesting. Anyway, if you'd like to share info, let me know. Andrea
