I may be able to help you with your enquiry. I myself am trying to find out informatioin about him. He became the Vicar of Irchester, Northamptonshire in the 1860s and lived at Chester House with his two daughters. He was Vicar until 1877 and he died in 1880. He is buried in Irchester.

He was apparently a missionary in Southeast Asia between 1826 and 1836 before returning to England. His family was apparently from the North Riding of Yorkshire, although he was born in Clitheroe, Lancashire. Does anyone have any connection to, or information on, this family? Thanks.

It seems we may info each other has not got, i didnt know about a older brother of ottiwell although i would have discovered him in time as i am planning on getting a earlier census on cd rom so as to get more info. Ottiwell's older brother is not living with his parents/siblings on the 1871 census which is why i knew nothing of his existence. As for james i keep forgetting him as he had left home by the time of the 1891 census but was still at home on the 1881 census.The 1891 census was my first point of call on my tomlin research which obvisouly showed isabella as the oldest child living in the household at the time. Anyway will go into more detail when i get your email address. P.S Ottiwell was born in Brompton upon Swale which is near Richmond, William was born in Richmond, Frank and Mary (the other siblings of ottiwell) were both born in oldham. Do you know when/where John was born? Darrell

I believe I have an oldest child of Ottiwell and Mary Ann Alcock - James Tomlin born 1873 approx / married Edith - I don't know the source of my info on that one - I have him resident in 1918 at 33, Umber St, Salford. I also have another Isabella Tomlin, oldest child of Ottiwell's older brother John.
