Hello, TOMLIN listers! I'm new to the list, researching the family of William Tomblin/Tomlin, who appears in the 1810 and 1820 censuses of Albemarle County, Virginia. Are any other list members researching this family? This William does not appear after 1820, and one Susannah Tomblin, age 60-70, appears in 1830 (only). Am I correct in my suspicion that Susannah is William's widow? Also, I suspect, based on the census records, that this William is the father of my Thomas Tomlin, who died in Albemarle County in 1869. Does anyone have other primary-source evidence to support or refute that suspicion? Perhaps information from the personal-property tax records? Thank you! Jesse married Lydia P. Sparks in Newton County, Georgia, on March 23, 1822. Jesse and Lydia were living in Walton County, Georgia, when the 1830 census was taken; Russell County, Alabama, when the 1840 census was taken; and Dale County, Alabama, when the 1850 and 1860 censuses were taken. Accordng to the 1830 and 1840 census records, Jesse and Lydia were the parents of five children--three boys and two girls. The 1850 census identifies four of these children as: Tinza A, born about 1830, John L. G., born about 1832, Sophronia L., born about 1834, Jesse A. B., born about 1840. I am primarily interested in the Sparks line in that Lydia was the daughter of Abel Sparks and Elizabeth Benge. I am in the process of researching each of the children of Abel and Elizabeth Benge Sparks. Any information on Jesse Tomlin and Lydia Sparks will be appreciated. I will be glad to exchange information on! the Sparks family.

(I would be happy to send you my sources if you wish) My initial questions are: 1) Who and when did he marry? When did she die? Were there any other children? 2) Did he maintain any contact with his sister, Ann Tomlin HORSFALL or any of her children after his return to England, or after her death in 1844?
