Hi List and a Happy New Year. I am looking for birth date/quarter details of Alfred Loveless, son of James. 1881 census says born circ 1874 Briantspuddle, but I cannot find this in the birth fiche. Also cannot find him in 1901 and he is not with his family who are in Bolton. Regards Sally

Hello Everyone, I have recently been in touch with a distant cousin who is fairly sure that Alfred was born in 1874 but his mother Fanny Pearce didn't marry James (the policeman) Loveless (1854-1926 s/o Stephen Loveless & Elizabeth Hammett) until 2 years later so I suppose his birth could have been registered as Alfred Pearce. Apparently Alfred never married and spent his life as a 'Gentleman of the Road' so I don't suppose he filled in too many census returns....................
