Tolpuddle is a small village in Dorset. These men were really the 'founders' of the Trade Union movement. In 1834, six agricultural labourers were sentenced to seven years' transportation to Australia for administering illegal oaths while founding a trade union. They all were granted a free pardon in 1836. In 1837 George Loveless wrote 'The Victims of Whiggery'. George Loveless was Knighted before he left England for London, Ontario Canada.
