    1. Re: [TOLPUDDLE-L] Loveless-passenger lists to North America

    3. Hi Donna, I know of no research on passengers lists etc relating to immigration to North America for the Tolpuddle Martyr crowd. There are anecdotal stories of how and when they came. I would be really interested in seeing, for instance, who all came with George Loveless, and when they exactly came. I believe it was 1844 and the party included his brother James, and the two Brine brothers, James and Joseph. There may be others however, eg brothers and collateral families. We know that George's daughter Sina died at sea. We read that they came through New York to Hamilton, and that the family stayed in Hamilton while George and the eldest son struck out for London. James and Joseph had lived with the Lovelesses in New House Farm, Greensted, but in Canada the Brines initially went north to Huron County. When did the other Loveless brothers come, Robert, and John? You would know that John started out in London and then went to Ohio. Robert stayed in the London area. In the case of the Standfields, it seems that they came in 1846, apparently via Port Stanley. Thomas had 2 grown daughters. Did they come or stay? There are also a bunch of collateral families: eg, spracklen, crabb, cooper, callendar. When did these come? Any discussion on this subject is most welcome! Geoff
