Hi Carol and Brian Success! I have tracked down a possible source of information on rope making etc in Bridport the town which claimed to be the rope making centre of the world! Though the industry has mostly died out. One of the last people to retire from rope making in the town was a Harry Loveless/lace my source is not certain which. Will be back in contact when I have more information but may be some time later in the year as the information in the rope making museum is much of it in deeds that will need searching, perhaps we will go down to do the research ourselves later in the year and I will get the chance to visit the Tolpouddle and Dorset county Museums as well. In addition the Somerset and Dorset family History Society are researching rope making in the West Country at the momnent so I will try and make contact there as well.
