Thanks for that Barb. Melissa was always interested in being a doctor but finds she loves the research side, perhaps she will have a fantastic breakthrough in research, perhaps not. Her thesis is being published in OZ now and has already been published in a Swedish medical journal. She is having this year off before doing her doctorate in 2004. She had such a difficult start in life we always knew she was put here for a reason. We got the photographs back today and they are fantastic. Bye for now Irene, still bursting with pride:-))))) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barb Lewis" <barblewis@bigpond.com> To: <TOLPUDDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 01, 2003 8:37 PM Subject: Re: [TOL] Proud Mum!!!! > To Irene and her family, > > CONGRATULATIONS No wonder you are proud, now Irene as I live here is > Aussie land - how about free consultations!! Hi Paul I have James Loveless bapt 21 Apr 1729, parents Robert Loveless and Christian at Piddletrenthide. and then James Loveless born between 1720-1724. parents Thomas Loveless and Margaret Davis. I get totally confused with these two James, I have now seen as many trees with James as a Piddletrenthide Loveless as I have seen him as a Tolpuddle Loveless. I am convinced that the Piddletrenthide and Tolpuddle Loveless's are closely connected but sorting them has been very difficult. There is also conflicting research on Thomas Loveless who married Margaret Davis. I have Thomas Loveless bapt 31 Oct 1687 to John Loveless and Elizabeth Devonish and then in another tree I have the same Thomas Loveless bapt 1676 married Hester Hutchins 6 Apr 1702 at Yetminster and then marrying Margaret Davis in 1717. Carol has told me she has got her research out so she might be able to clear this up. I doubt this information will help you because part of it you sent me in the first place. Best go, need me beaut sleep. Hi Dawn, Ann, Irene and Donna, Sorry I haven't replied to your earlier posts - I've had problems with my PC. My G G Grandmother was Anna Kate Loveless born 24/12.1855 who was the daughter of Jojn and Martha Jane Penny married at Coombe Keynes on 1/11/1838. John was baptised at Coombe Keynes on 4/6/1820 the son of John and Hannah Baker married 4/4/1804 at Winfrith Newburgh. John was baptised on 21/7/1782 at Coombe Keynes and was the son of James Loveless of Tolpuddle and Mary Cobb who were married at Coombe Keynes on 21/.9/1776. James had been married 3 times before to Betty Dover, Sara Hughes and Christial Symes. I do know that my James was buried in Coombe Keynes on 18/5/1789 but I have no idea how old he was when he died. Now in my previous research I had assumed that he was the son of Robert and Christial Loveless of Piddletrenthide and born in 1729. However I had a letter fromCarol Park a couple of years ago to say that my James was the son of Thomas Loveless bap 1676 and Margaret Davies bap 1695 who were married on 6/4/1713 at Buckland Newton. They had another son John bap 1731. If anyone can help, I would like to know how old James was when he died in 1789 and when he was baptised. Any help would be appreciated. Many Thanks Paul Pearson
Hey Irene - our computer has been offline for a week, suspected virus, (don't panic Tolpuddlers our virus scan was working until one day before it crashed.) Kevin - I checked the 1851 census for Dorset county and Emma Hammett did not appear anywhere on the census. Is there a chance that she died or perhaps the name was misspelt on the census. I found her baptism listed - 31 March 1843 daughter of Mary - no father listed - Tolpuddle Cheers, Donna King List Owner Tolpuddle/Cannell Mailing Lists deking@rogers.com LOVELESS/LOVELACE GENEALOGY PAGE - UNITED KINGDOM/CANADA/AUSTRALIA http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~martyrs We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors...but they all have to learn to live in the same box. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin McMahon" <kevin@emmcmahon.fsnet.co.uk> To: <TOLPUDDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 12, 2003 1:19 PM Subject: [TOL] Hammett/Legg > Has anyone come across info on Emma Gentilia Hammett bapt 1844 Tolpuddle, mother Mary, cannot find on 1851 census for Tolpuddle area. Thought you all might be interested in this! Eye US President History Curse Look what happens when a President gets elected in a year with a "0" at the end. Also notice it goes in increments of 20 years. 1840: William Henry Harrison (died in office) 1860: Abraham Lincoln (assassinated) 1880: James A. Garfield (assassinated) 1900: William McKinley (assassinated) 1920: Warren G. Harding (died in office) 1940: Franklin D. Roosevelt (died in office) 1960: John F. Kennedy (assassinated) 1980: Ronald Reagan (survived assassination attempt) 2000: George W. Bush (?) And to think that we had two guys fighting it out in the courts to be the one elected in 2000 You might also be interested in this. Have a history teacher explain this if they can. Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846 John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946 Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860 John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960 Both were particularly concerned In civil rights Both wives lost their children while living in the White House Both Presidents were shot on a Friday Both Presidents were shot in the head Now it gets really weird Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy Kennedy's secretary was named Lincoln Both were assassinated by Southerners Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808 Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908 John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839 Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939 Both assassins were known by their three names Both names are composed of fifteen letters Now hang on to your seat Lincoln was shot at the theatre named "Ford" Kennedy was shot in a car called 'Lincoln' made by "Ford" Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials And here's the kicker.... A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe. Creepy?
ANIMAL JOKES FOR[NL]WEDNESDAY MARCH 5, 2003 A cat dies and goes to Heaven. God meets him at the gate and says, 'You've been a good cat all of these years. Anything you desire is yours, all you have to do is ask.' The cats says, 'Well, I lived all my life with a poor family on a farm and had to sleep on hardwood floors.' God says, 'Say no more.' And instantly, a fluffy pillow appears. A few days later, 6 mice are killed in a tragic accident and they go to Heaven. God meets them at the gate with the same offer that He made the cat. The mice said, 'All our lives we've had to run. We've been chased by cats, dogs and even women with brooms. If we could only have a pair of roller skates, we wouldn't have to run anymore.' God says, Say no more.' And instantly, each mouse is fitted with a beautiful pair of tiny roller skates. About a week later, God decides to check and see how the cat is doing. The cat is sound asleep on his new pillow. God gently wakes him and asks, 'How are you doing? Are you happy here?' The cat yawns and stretches and says, 'Oh, I've never been happier in my life. And those Meals on Wheels you've been sending over are the best! Cheers, Donna
