    3. Martin I do not know if this is of any help to you but a John Lovelace from Mosterton was recorded as living in Portland in the 1851 census as a Mason. His wife Anne had died in the preceding months and was buried in Mosterton but could well have been living elsewhere. John was living with his two sons from his first marriage Jonathon and Mark Rendell Loveless. John's mother's name was Grace as was the daughter of William Henry. This may be coincidence but on the other hand if you have hit a brick wall it may be worth looking into. Howard Martin. PS Have you got the marriage certificate of William Henry to Mary Jane May as this would tell you his father's name? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Martin Willcocks" <martinwill2@comcast.net> To: <TOLPUDDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 30, 2004 11:30 PM Subject: [TOL] LOVELESS in Hampshre > Hi all: > > Seems to be some new activity on the list these days so I thought I'd > post my Hampshire LOVEMESS names again, in hope that someone may connect > to them. > > William Henry LOVELESS, b. 1853, married Mary Jane MAY, b. 1857, > Portsea, in DecQtr 1875, Portsea, and they had the following children: > William Henry LOVELESS b. 3. Irene Fantastic, thank you very much. I have told cousin Bertha May (Bertha Ann's daughter) she is 85 now, very excited and it has certainly jogged her memory. 3. Hi Martin Interesting that you should post again. I printed out your posting from the Lovelace list because it was ringing bells with me. I have a little on Postsea Loveless's but could not find anything on yours, will look again. Did have a laugh when I read that Postsea was in Victoria Australia which it is but I doubt your Loveless's come from there or I sure would know them seeing as I live just a couple of hours from Portsea OZ. I will look at Portsea England for you, must say that it rings huge bells with me, perhaps I have looked and tried before and that is all it is but will keep looking and send you the little I have to the list tomorrow on Portsea Loveless in England. I also have a Mary Ann Loveless listed with this family in the 1851 census, she is possible a granddaughter. Mary Ann born 1845, age 5 in census. Must continue tomorrow now because have to get to work. But here is a little run down 1/Bertha Ann Loveless daughter of William Loveless and Ann 2/William Loveless son of William Loveless and Judith Jeanes. 3/William Loveless son of Joshua Loveless and Ann Bush. 4/Joshua Loveless son of Joshua Loveless and Catherine Taylor 5/Joshua Loveless (born 1746)son of Jonathon Loveless and Ann Bird 6/Jonathon Loveless (born 1719) son of Joshua Loveless and Mary ? 7/Joshua Loveless (born 1683) son of Robert All in Leigh. 8/Robert born 1634 possibly son of John Loveless and Joane? 3. Woo now we are cookin!!! Great Howard and Derek I can add to this :-)) Before I start is Joyce Hardy on our list, if so Joyce this is your tree too. If she is not on the list Derek I will forward you her email address, she descends from Arthur. William Jnr in this census who seems to be Bertha's dad is the son of William and Judith. This connects into the tree I have so here goes. William snr born abt 1829 Leigh Dorset, parents Joshua Loveless and Ann Bush (more on them later) From the 1881 census William 52 labourer, born Leigh. Leigh. Judith 54 born Leigh. Leigh. William 21 labourer. Born Leigh. Leigh. Samuel J 20 Labourer. Born Leigh. Leigh. Jane (daughter of William and Judith not in this household at time of census) Arthur (son of William and Judith not in this household at time of census) Elizabeth 13. born Leigh. Leigh Sarah 9 born Leigh. Leigh. 1851 census William 22 born Leigh. Leigh. Judith 24 born Leigh. Leigh. William not being born until 1859 could possibly mean there would be more children to William and Judith. Eno and Loveless in this 1891 census is the brother of William Snr and possibly also David, I have a son David listed but he should be 38. 3. Irene - glad to hear from you and also glad to hear that everything is okay and that you're just busy with life. Working for a living can sure throw a wrench into your time for family research. I keep trying to get at my course but they keep changing the schedule on me. You know when your young and don't want to go to school - school is never closed. Now that I'm a lot older - and want to go to school - they keep making me wait. Well, must go. Love to all. Donna P.S. - Joy where are you? Let us know if everything is okay. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eye" <eye22@bigpond.com> To: <TOLPUDDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 29, 2004 6:48 PM Subject: RE: [TOL] Tolpuddle Martyrs > Hiya All > Sorry I haven't been around much, am now in the fulltime working world, > just thought I'd say g'day and I want to reply to Derek. > Derek I have a large tree of Leigh Loveless's but cannot find your > Bertha Ann Loveless, if you have any info on her such as siblings or > parents I will have another look for you. > I can tell you that the Leigh Loveless family I have seems to go back to > Yetminster with Fortune Loveless and Mary Golding marrying in 1706, I > have branches of this family up to the late 1800's. > I hope you connect in here because it's a huge tree and like the rest of > us hope that you also find a connection to the TM's. > Anyway to all my pals on the Tolpuddle list I hope you are all keeping > well and staying happy as we are here in OZ. > Oh and before I go has anyone heard from Barbara Lewis, would love to > know how you are going Barb. > Toodles > Irene > > -----Original Message----- > From: Donna King [mailto:emily04@rogers.com] > Sent: Saturday, August 28, 2004 8:37 AM > To: TOLPUDDLE-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [TOL] Tolpuddle Martyrs > > Derek - Sorry I don't have a record of a Bertha Ann Loveless in my tree. > > Also I couldn't find a record of Bertha Ann Loveless in the 1891 Census > for > Dorset - Volume 13 Bere Regis & District. 3. Hi all: Seems to be some new activity on the list these days so I thought I'd post my Hampshire LOVEMESS names again, in hope that someone may connect to them. William Henry LOVELESS, b. 1853, married Mary Jane MAY, b. 1857, Portsea, in DecQtr 1875, Portsea, and they had the following children: William Henry LOVELESS b. SepQtr 1876 May Grace LOVELESS b. 1880 d. DecQtr 1879, age 7. William Henry m. DecQtr 1901 at Portsmouth to either Ada May COUSINS ot Maude WEBB. I favour COUSINS as there was a connection to WILLCOCKS in the form of Thomas Cousins WILLCOCKS, and these families were in close proximity to each other, Their child, probably, was William Henry V LOVELESS b. DecQtr 1908, Portsmouth. (This would make William Henry (1853) the third to bear that name. In which case I'm still looking for William Henry LOVELESS in two earlier generations (before birth registration started.) In 1881 William (27) was aboard HMS Terror, along with brother-in-law William Henry MAY, 18. His wife, Mary Jane (24) was at 15 Malta Place with sister Grace MAY, 22, and two young children, William Henry LOVELESS (5) and Mary (or May) Grace LOVELESS (1) There are a lot more LOVELESS names in the FreeBMD list in Hampshire, in the Portsea/Portsmouth area, and I would expect some to be connected. I have NO known connections to the Tolpuddle LOVELESS line that I know of; there is no way to do DNA testing as LOVELESS is a lateral twig. My grandmother was another sister of Mary Jane. I also have NO leads to earlier generations except the surmise that William Henry 1853 was the third of that name. Any help greatly appreciated. Martin Willcocks Taylorsville, UT, USA.

    3. Barb - great to hear from you. Glad to hear that your condition is improving? I'm officially retired now and going to school in the mornings. My schooling is paid for by disability so I'm taking advantage of it. Life here has its ups and downs but I'm concentrating on the positive things like that I'm soon to be a grandma sometime in February 05. I don't have any dogs but have 3 cats all with different personalities etc. I do like dogs, however, I don't have my own home and cats are just easier to keep at this point. Well, must run as I have lots of work to do. Although my daughter did do some housework this morning before she went to work. 3. Irene Thanks for this. It sort of confirms my view that Bertha was born in Leigh, I need to get to Dorchester to look at the records asap to confirm. I'm working backwards as follows: Bertha May Baker, daughter of Edwin Charles Baker (b 1888 Bishops Caundle) and Bertha Ann Loveless (b 1886 Leigh?) married 1914 at Bishops Caundle I have one relation living in Dorchester who I'm trying to trace so maybe they can shed more light on the Loveless connection. thanks Derek On 30 Aug 2004, at 01:24, Eye wrote: > Hello again Derek > I wondered if you had this from the 1901 census > > Name Age Where Born Administrative County Civil Parish Occupation > > Bertha Loveless 15 Dorset Leigh Dorset Melbury Bubb General Domestic > > Regards > Irene > > -----Original Message----- > From: Donna King [mailto:emily04@rogers.com] > Sent: Saturday, August 28, 2004 8:37 AM > To: TOLPUDDLE-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [TOL] Tolpuddle Martyrs > > Derek - Sorry I don't have a record of a Bertha Ann Loveless in my > tree. > > Also I couldn't find a record of Bertha Ann Loveless in the 1891 Census > for > Dorset - Volume 13 Bere Regis & District. 3. Hiya All Sorry I haven't been around much, am now in the fulltime working world, just thought I'd say g'day and I want to reply to Derek. Derek I have a large tree of Leigh Loveless's but cannot find your Bertha Ann Loveless, if you have any info on her such as siblings or parents I will have another look for you. I can tell you that the Leigh Loveless family I have seems to go back to Yetminster with Fortune Loveless and Mary Golding marrying in 1706, I have branches of this family up to the late 1800's. I hope you connect in here because it's a huge tree and like the rest of us hope that you also find a connection to the TM's. Anyway to all my pals on the Tolpuddle list I hope you are all keeping well and staying happy as we are here in OZ. Oh and before I go has anyone heard from Barbara Lewis, would love to know how you are going Barb. Also I couldn't find a record of Bertha Ann Loveless in the 1891 Census for Dorset - Volume 13 Bere Regis & District. She could of been born in another district of Dorset! Have you tried searching on the 1891 census online? Do you know the name of her parents? Sometimes I have the parents but not the children.
