    3. Thank you so much Jacki and all my other fantastic genie pals on this list. Adam had a great weekend, he has been so sick for so long, then when they gave him blood it really boosted his energy, it was great to see. His little body is starting to react to the chemo medication though with his little tummy starting to swell. He was very pleased today when I rang him, he told me he was moving to Ronald McDonald house and he is thrilled. Ronald McDonald house is across from the Royal Children Hospital and the environment is not like a hospital. He should be home within two weeks and then has his treatment as a day patient. My darling sister Donna is the bravest person alive and coping really well as is the rest of their family. I have told her all about all of you and the prayers and she said to send a huge "THANK YOU" and keep up the good work, ditto from me. 3. Irene - glad to hear that you have received some blessings, however small, in this terrible situation. As you know my two children are in their 20s and I can't begin to imagine it they had been sick like Adam. I do believe in the power of prayer and I'm sure that our Lord will be with you. Please don't hesitate to call upon us on the email as we have helped each other throughout the past few years. Please let your sister know her namesake here in Canada will be praying for her and Adam. 3. Thank you all so much for you lovely emails of support for Adam and his family. Today we have been told, yes Adam does have leukaemia but we have a few things to be very thankful for. Adam has the most common stain of leakaemia, the doctor stated it had a "pretty good success rate for cure," also the doctors are thrilled that even though Adam has the disease right through his body, it is not in his spine. It's full on treatment for the next few weeks. He was starting kindergarten next year, he is not allowed to be around large groups of people, so no kinder and he will no longer go to his carer while Donna works. Donna is a school teacher so he will not fall back in his learning, there's another thing to be thankful for. I went to work in the morning and my team leader sent me off to the hospital to be with Donna for the afternoon, that was lovely, I only told two people at work one being my team leader and she said "off you go, out of here, your sister needs you." I was going to wait to see how Donna was when I called her the second time and then head to the hospital after work. My work is just 15 minutes from the hospital, are we counting, another thing to be thankful for :)I work for a great company and this is when it shows. I feel the prayers are working already. Thank you to all of you. 3. Hey Irene, I am so sorry - of course our prayers are with you all. Remember too that if it is leukaemia that may be the start, not an end. Treatment and outlook for little ones is so much better now than it has ever been, little Adam is in the best hands and thank God the intervention is now, not later. Take really good care of yourselves all of you, that's the best support for Adam, all of your strength and energy to will into him. Let us know how it all goes, the angels are watching. 3. Hi Irene Really sorry to hear about little Adam, we will keep him in our thoughts and prayers and light a candle for him this week at Mass. 1. Captain LOVELESS and MAY (not WAY) in Sussex
    2. Martin Willcocks
    3. Hi Donna and all: My main thrust was Captain Loveless, who, I hasten to add, was in Brighton, Sussex, in 1809. The MAY (not WAY) family were also firmly in Brighton, Sussex for the entire 18th century into the mid-19th century, with many baptism and marriage records at St. Nicholas, Brighton. My point was that since these two families once lived in Sussex, there could have been some precursors to Mary Jane MAY marrying William Henry LOVELESS in Portsea, Hampshire, in 1875. Mary Jane was my great-aunt. And, if you remember, my question was, "Who was Captain Loveless?" Having no first name does not help! Also, I have yet to find anyone who knows William Henry LOVELESS's parents. The only information I have about his age comes from the 1881 census, but as he was born in about 1854 his birth should have been registered (who knows, many were not at that time!) I haven't found a baptism record either. FreeBMD has only 10% of births for 1854 (P-Z, Sep) and only 25% of 1880 births transcribed so far. I have precisely two pieces of information about him - he was 27 in the 1881 census, aboard HMS Terror, and his marriage was in Portsea, 2b 841, in the last quarter of 1875. I only know of two children: 1. William Henry LOVELESS b. SepQtr 1876, Portsea 2b 485, who probably was the one married DecQtr 1901 Portsea 2b 1068 to Ada May Cousins or Maude Webb. They may be the parents of William Henry V LOVELESS, b. DecQtr 1908 Portsmouth 2b 367. 2. May Grace LOVELESS, b. JunQtr 1880 Portsea 2b 523, d. MarQtr 1888, age 7, Portsea 2b 305. If anyone has access to 1837online or similar, or to Portsea parish records, other than the IGI, which I've already searched and the FreeBMD site which has no updates beyond the ones mentioned here, I'd appreciate lookups, please. I am planning to obtain certificates for these among some other records that are critical to my research, but can't afford to spend large amounts of money on these till the new system comes into force for less expensive "short" certs. More important, though, if anyone on this list has a direct connection to LOVELESS in Hampshire or possibly in Sussex, I'd like the details, to see if they connect to my line. BTW the May Grace birth IS on the images, but not yet transcribed, so I'll submit the LOVELESS entries from that page. Also here are some pages: Mar 1880 = 1880b1-333; Jun 1880 = 1880b2-348; no others for _any_ names in 1880 Sep or Dec Qtr.. 3. Does anyone know who Captain LOVELESS was? The Sussex Weekly Advertiser, Monday, September 18th, 1809 has an alphabetical list under Game Duty, of individuals who obtained licenses for killing of Game in Sussex, September 16th 1809, including Loveless, Captain, of Brighton, Sussex. Also included are May, Thomas jun. and May, Richard, both of Billingshurst, Sussex. These entries may be relevant to the later marriage of William Henry LOVELESS to Mary Jane MAY in Portsea, Hampshire, in 1875 DecQtr, as William was in the Royal Navy, b. 1854, Portsea (age 27 in 1881 Census.) Mary Jane MAY was a daughter of William MAY and Mary Ann CLEMENTS, and William MAY was born in 1822 in Brighton, Sussex to Celia MAY, widow of Dean MAY (who died in 1817). William claimed Dean as his father in 1854 when he married Mary Ann. It is not clear who was his actual father! There may have been some longtime connection, therefore, between the LOVELESS and MAY families in the Brighton area. My conjecture is that Capt. Loveless could have been William Henry's father or grandfather, or a great-uncle, perhaps. I don't even have a first name, though I suspect that W.H's father and grandfather were also named William Henry, based on a son William Henry LOVELESS and a possible grandson named William Henry V LOVELESS. The MAY family definitely was in Brighton for a good portion of the 18th century, and Thomas could have been a son of Richard, though what connection if any Richard has to Dean, I do not know. There is a Thomas MAY b. 1744, s/o James MAY and Mary DEAN, but I do not have any Richard MAYs in the lines so far researched. Thomas's brothers John and Edward were married, but I don't have any children for John and no Richard among Edward's children (there is a seven year gap between the second and third.) Two other brothers James and William, may have married but I have no details, so there are plenty of possibilities for a Richard in the mid 1700's and a son Thomas in the late 1700's. Any information on either of these names would be helpful! I still have no known parents for William Henry LOVELESS and no known connections between him and any Dorset LOVELESS family. It is VERY frustrating not to be able to find him or his ancestry. (No birth or baptism record found in Portsea, either, only the 1881 census to go on!) Doesn't anyone have any connections to Hampshire or Sussex? Regards Martin Willcocks Taylorsville, UT, USA.
