    3. Dawn - thanks for your email. Unfortunately, I haven't reached back that far in my transcribing. Right now I'm in 1837. I will let you know as soon as I reach the dates you mention in your email. However, the British Vital Records CD have the following: LOVELESS, John Christening Gender: Male Christening Date: 4 Nov 1751 Recorded in: Tolpuddle, Dorset, England Father: John LOVELESS Mother: Thomasin Source: FHL Film 1239251 Dates: 1739 - 1775 Baptism recorded in Tolpuddle Parish Register November 4, 1751 - John, son of John & Thomasina Gould - Baptised Here is the marriage between John Loveless and Judith Hibbs. Banns of marriage between John Loveless, Bachelor and Judith Hibbs both of this parish were married in this Church by Banns on this 5th Day of March in the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy-four by me E. Salter, Vicar. This Marriage was solemized between Us - the mark of John Loveless and the Mark of Judith Hibbs. In the presence of Leonard Coish and Thomas Crisdee Hope this helps so far. I will try and find his burial date. 3. Hi Donna: I have previously seen these extracts and have asked for information about Captain Loveless before. Nobody came up with any information about him. As you know, I am trying to trace the ancestry of William Henry LOVELESS b. 1854 who was aboard H.M.S. Terror as a Capt. Qr. Deck in the 1881 census, age 27, as he was a greatuncle of mine. He married Mary Jane MAY in Dec Qtr 1875 at Portsea Hants, where he was born. Any information would be appreciated. If someone can find him in 1837online, for example - he was not in FreeBMD the last time I checked. Regards Martin Willcocks Taylorsville, UT, USA.

    3. Hi Lawrence Sorry, I don't know if she is connected to the other Loveless via the Martyrs. Elizabeth Hammett was sister to James Hammett, TPM, she wed into the Loveless line, and hence my interest in these Loveless as they have Hammett blood. Irene, Dawn or Donna might know. Do you have any other names from Tolpuddle? We might have a connection elsewhere, as the Tolpuddle folk inter wed. Bye for now. 3. Hi All This years Tolpuddle Festival is 15-17 July 2005. The grand procession through the village is at 2pm on the Sunday. At 5pm in the Methodist Chapel there is the Martyrs' Day Service (built by two of James Hammett's half cousins, one of whom was a preacher there for many years). The TUC has produced the programme for this year in booklet form. Let's hope the weather is favourable for them all this year. Regards Sally

    3. Hi Lawrence and Sally I have a family that I feel matches the William R P Loveless you have below, just check out the names and if we ever go by instinct and our gut feelings this is a good chance. I was tracing Percy Gordon Loveless's line for a lady called Sue Rose, I remember she was from the UK, it's a few years ago now so will need to see if her email address is still working. Sue descended from Percy. Percy had a son Percy Walter Loveless who came to Australia which interested me. Here's the family - Richard Loveless married Sarah Hitt, Sarah was born in Bridport in 1827. From the 1851 census I found Sarah living at Bothenhampton Dorset. Children 1/ Percy Gordon Loveless born 1849 Bothenhampton, married Emma ? Percy in the 1881 census as a Brewers Clerk living Stapenhill Dby 2/ Copley Loveless born 1850 Bothenhampton, never married. 3/ Alfred Copley Hitt Loveless born Bothenhampton Sep Qtr 1857 (from the FMD) 4/ William Loveless 5/ Felicia Loveless I also need to check because William R P Loveless rings a bell, I bet his full name in William Richard Percy Loveless, what do you think?? Hope this helps, will now look for Richard Loveless and perhaps a Percy? Will try not to get excited because this family seems to connect to Somerset and Australia as mine did, you just never know:-) Toodles Irene -----Original Message----- From: kevin mcmahon [mailto:kevin@emmcmahon.fsnet.co.uk] Sent: Friday, May 13, 2005 4:01 AM To: TOLPUDDLE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TOL] Loveless Hi Lawrence Florence Annie Loveless born June Q 1861 Bridport (freeBMD) Florence Loveless married Thomas Wilson Sept Q 1879 Ashton area )freeBMD site) 1881 they are living 32 Mayfield Rd, Handsworth Staffs, she is Florence A Wilson 19 born Bridport, Dorset He is Thomas Wilson 29 born B'ham hosier & glover 1881, 13 Archibald Rd, Handworth, Staffs William R P Loveless brewer 55 born Keynsham, Somerset Sarah Loveless wife 54 born Bridport, Dorset Felicia M H Loveless dau 16 born Bothn Dorset Richard G Loveless son 14 ditto Laura Loveless 12 born Nethbury Dorset I think the above might be her parents and siblings. 3. Hi Cousin Dawn, Thanks for all the info over the last day or so. This brood :) is descended from Frederick William Gregory b.1897, Charles' and Elizabeth's eldest son. Frederick (married Emily Jane CROFT) had four children. Vickers, Doris, Vera, and Patrick (now deceased). I am the only child of Vera, which genuinely makes us second cousins. Frederick was a shepherd, like many of his forbearers, and during my childhood the family was brought up around Stoke sub Hamdon in Somerset. Although my immediate family went back to live in Piddlehinton around 1960-1967.... A wonderful place to live! I just got off the phone talking with my uncle Vic and he remembers your side of the family very well although he says hasn't been in touch for years. So which parts of the family are you still in contact with? I'll send you contact details for Vic off-list if you want to renew acquaintance. I wonder are there any other Gregories on the list? Cheers.... 3. Hi All Came across this site on the net www.collectbritain.co.uk/collections The way we speak. Has over 600 interviews with people on regional dialects. Didn't get to look at all of them, but there were some from Dorset. Cheers Sally

    3. Hi Thankyou to so many of you for replying, my information on my maternal ancestors is very sketchy, due to a family feud in the 1970's, all i know is from my grandfathers birth cert and family myths, as follows, Florence Loveless, was suposedly the granddaughter of one of the tolpuddle martyrs (I thought they had all gone to Canada), she married a Wilson, had a daughter Gwendoline Evelyn Wilson, who married John Leonard Gordon Walker, they had a few kids, one of whome was my grandad Donald Gordon Walker (1918-1997), at the time of his birth they were living in Hall Gren, Birmingham, UK. he married Eileen Doris Smallwood (1920-1998) in 1941, had 6 kids, one of whome is my mother, Fiona Mary Kristin Walker (1958-), who in 1981 married John Raymond Gregory (1948-), and that is all i have, i dont know wether the Loveless conection is just myth or if there is something behind it, unfortunatly, i dont know anyone on my grandfathers side of the family to ask, i have emailed my uncles, my mums elder brothers to ask if they have any more info and i will keep you updated.
